Difference Between The 40 GB PS3 or the 80 GB PS3?
I will probably buy a PS3 in about a month online at Wal-Mart.com
Since I work for Wal-Mart I do get 10% on my PS3 purchase so I am wondering which is the better PS3 to own. Is the only difference between the two the amount of storage for the Hard Drive or are there better bargins between them? Online I see If I buy the 40GB I have a choice to where I can choose 1 Blue Ray Movie and 1 Game. I probably will use the PS3 to watch Blue Ray mainly but also get a couple games like Grand Theft Auto The Simpsons Game Spider-Man 3 It seems I can get 1 movie I like and one of the other games I like if I buy the 40 GB Bundle Pack but which in my case should I get Playstation 3 with the 80 GB with the Metal Gear Game or Playstation 3 with the 40 GB with choice of 1 Game and one Blue Ray Movie? |
The current differences between the 40GB and 80GB:
80GB: 4 USB ports, 40GB: 2 USB ports 80GB: Media card slots, 40GB: No media card slots. 80GB: Software-based Backward Compatibility of PS2 games, 40GB: No BC. |
Another difference, and this probably doesn't matter to most gamers unless you also happen to be an audiophile, but the 80GB plays SACD discs, while the 40GB does not.

I guess that answers it I want to be able to play PS2 Games on there so I guess I will be getting the 80GB. I just have to save a little more.

Just get the 80GB and be done. And it's Blu-ray.

For more info on the differences, check the wiki. It has a chart with pretty colors.

Oh, and remeber these comparisons are about the CURRENT 80 GB unit, the MGS4 package. The upcoming 80 GB unit is just like the 40 but with a bigger HD.

Is Walmart about to do another one of those $100 gift cards with Blu-Ray purchase, PHMustang2000?
