MLB Power Pros 2008: Wii / PS2 / DS

Saw an older thread about 2007 Power Pros on here and was wondering if anyone was getting the new 2008 Power Pros coming out next week? I really like the one from last year and its been my favorite baseball game so far for the Wii. Check out the trailer and tell me what you think:

I'm really excited for it to come out. Anyone else getting it?

My sons and I love the first one, and will be there on day 1 for this edition. Nice to see that it will incorporate the wii-mote into the game.

Not sure if I am missing something, but I didn't see any mention of Wii controls in the linked video.

From ebgames.com

Wii™ CONSOLE FEATURES:

Power Pros via the Wii Remote™: Play Exhibition Mode or Home Run Challenge with the Wii remote. Hit and pitch with the motions of the Wii remote.
Import your Miis!: Choose Miis stored on your console or Wii remote to bring into the game! Players can choose a single Mii or populate a team with up to 10 Miis!

I loved the first one on Wii. If they can keep the formula the same and deliver the first good DS baseball game, I'm definitely down. Unfortunately, no video of the DS in the trailer posted.

I'm not sure there's enough reason for me to reup on the Wii, however. I'm still playing my MVP Baseball 05 dynasty after all.

Cool - thanks. The way your reply read, it sounded like you got that info from the video.

My apologies. I was answering based upon what I had previously read about the game, as I can not view the video from work.

Understood. Very excited to get this for the Wii controls.

As far as I know, in last years game you could use the Wii-mote to play exhibition games as well.

From what I've read in previews they're not going to change any of the basics and gameplay from the 2007 into 2008 for the wii and PS2. They have made a lot of additions to 2008 like the MLB Life mode which looks really good AND best of all you get to start in the minor leagues.

Regarding the wii-mote controls, the motions are used for the Home Run Challenge which is highly addictive. Its a good addition and perfect for the wiimote...

The IGN review confirms the above: no new Wii-specific controls for 2008.

I'll probably just stick with 2007 until 2008 comes down.

that's a shame, as it would have made a great game ever better. bummer

Not good, why couldn't they incorporate letting you pitch and bat like the simple Wii Sports baseball game. The game could have been great.

I have seen bums on the streets of NYC work harder than 3rd party Wii developers.

I never found myself missing the full Wii swing motion thing for Power Pros because it has such solid gameplay and its just fun anyways. Like the review says, if you haven't played the game before I recommend getting the game... it'll be hard to say the game isn't great (even without the lack of a swing function). I'm already a huge fan of the old one so I'm interested in the new sim functions which I always find enjoyable on newer sports games these days.
