Yeah, a Blizzard employee basically tweeted "LOL" in response to that release date. I don't think the retailers will get the date before the public. Blizzard is pretty tight-lipped until THEY are ready to annouce the release date.

I am a little disapointed with some of the control/layout. It seems like you can only use X amount of takent at a time. So at level 3 you have 2 and it goes up from there opposed to the past of being able to use any spell/talent you have learned. I hope they change this, and it also looks closer to a console setup than the game has in the past.

I just hope my PC, and really my laptop can run the final version, so far no problems with the Beta.

I disagree completely. What they did with skills is great. No longer do you have to completely reroll a character just to change your skills, or if you play offline hack the save games like in Diablo 1/2. Of course they could implement the ability to reset skills for a cost, like WoW and every MMO out there, but that's just a stupid money sink.

The game controls exactly as a Diablo game should.

The side of re-rolling a character is good, but I don't like the way you are limited to what learned skill you are allowed to use. IIRC 2 at level 5, 3 at 10 etc, this migtht be something that is eliminated once you level up high enough, but early levels only have 1 or 2 actions is a little weak, but I have not got above lvl 8 or 9.

I don't think that's been officially announced yet but has been heavily rumored to eventually come out. I think they want to focus on the pc version first and then work on 360/ps3 port after pc version comes out. Also wouldn't be surprised if diablo 1 and 2 get remade for xbla and psn.

Blizzard did hire some console personel in the past year and after playing the demo I think (HOPE!) we will see a console Diablo this year. I do not know why Blizzard never ported Diablo over in the past.

And yes, they ported diablo to regular psx, but it was a pretty crappy port and 1 save file took the entire memory card, something like 38 blocks.

The Diablo series is my all time favorite game series ever. I built 2 computers to be able to run Diablo releases, but I am burnt out on PC games after playing WOW for 3 years. I may wait to see when a console version is coming out, or I may jump on it late summer if console is nto coming out or delayed.

As I said earlier, the Beta feels more like a console game than D1 or D2, especially the attacks/spells. You are limited to 1-2 in early levels and move up to a few more at certain levels. This is opposed to the earlier games where you could use any ability you learned and could hot key to the numbers buttons and use the Fkeys for the overflow. The biggest hurddle for console I see is movement and aiming (shift-attack).

will Diablo 2 work on Windows 7? i know some of the older games have problems once and a while. I may try out Diablo 2...is it very "dated" or did it hold up pretty well over the years?

I got it working on vista so I don't see why not.

I don't know about D2, but D1 works on Win 7 with only one problem. The colors are all messed up, but that is fixed by changing something in the directory files. I always preferred D1. I replay it every once in awhile. D2 I haven't touched in years.

If anyone pre-ordered it from Amazon before the announcement, make sure you go back in and change your shipping method to "release day delivery." It actually knocked the shipping down to $0.99. I had one day delivery which was $6, I think.
