Battlefield: Bad Company

So who's picking up Battlefield: Bad Company? I've got it pre-ordered for the 360. So far the reviews look solid. 87% at Game Rankings and Metacritic.

After playing the beta and demo, I really like the multiplayer. It's a blast when you get a full game going. Look forward to trying out the other six maps (8 total).

Based on the short demo, the single player was just ok. I liked the characters. But the gameplay seemed average.

I was disappointed about a few things in the demo. First, it looks like there's no brightness control. I hate adjusting the brightness on my TV just to play a game. Second, they didn't add prone or parachutes. These are things that everyone was asking for during the beta test. And I didn't see them in the demo.

Here's some reviews:

I'm definitely picking this up. The multiplayer looks solid.

Played the demo today and it seemed pretty cool with more of a learning curve than COD4. Having all the different vehicles reminded me of Halo and the destructive environments are really cool.

By the way...Circuit City includes a $10 Gift card and a keychain with purchase this week.

I'm on the fence - if I bought it, it would be primarily for it's single-player game. I'd probably only dip my toes into the multi-player component.

Should I bother?

I haven't played the demo, but based on the reviews and my hankering for an online FPS, I'll pick this up tomorrow.

I still haven't finished GTA IV (aka The Game That Never Ends), and I really want to take a break from it. This looks like it'll be a nice distraction for a couple of weeks or so.

I picked it up this evening, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I liked the Demo, so I decided to pick it up. I'm hoping to get a few hours in later this morning.

I take it keyboard and mouse are not supported for PS3? Damn, I'm so used to PC for a FPS

Is it better than the demo? Because after playing COD4 for 6 months it was complete shit.

I agree. Maybe I need to give the demo another shot but it felt like the Frontlines demo to me - a few interesting things but otherwise forgettable in comparison to COD4.

And I was a HUGE BF1942 fan back in the day, so I want to like this thing.

yeah after playing cod4 for so long, the beta for this game felt like crap. i know they fixed a couple of things in the demo, but i haven't tried that yet. i picked up the game today, but wanted to play the demo before opening it.

i was a big bf2:mc person on the 360, so i'm hoping this is good.

Ditto here. I've been a long-time player of BF2 on the PC and have gotten pretty good. It's so hard for me to play shooters with a controller now - I have like 1/10th the accuracy and response time I do on a keyboard/mouse.

I'll still check it out for the single player.

has anyone seen the spoof ads that are running for Bad Company? I found them pretty funny.

I just found out about this thing:

For $60 from BestBuy.com I'm going to give it a shot.

Only bad thing is it does not appear to be wireless. I have a USB extension cord though.

There is a wireless version though... but I didn't see it at the Best Buy website. I'll pay the extra $10 for the bluetooth version.

D'oh - I guess I clicked Submit Order too soon.

Haven't been able to find anywhere selling the BT version - please post if you find it for sale.

Getting back to the game... *ahem*

does anyone know approximately how long the single-player campaign is? I enjoyed it in the demo, and if I bought the game it'd primarily be for that. If it's around 10 hours, give or take, I'd say it'd be worth it, if not, I'll probably wait until it's cheaper.

Based on the reviews, I am interested in picking it up, even though it definitely wasn't on my radar at all.

i played the demo last night and found that the game is alot smoother than the beta was. it still takes alot of bullets to kill someone, but it's pretty fun. i'm just going to finish getting up to level 4 for the gun unlock code on the demo and then i'll open up the retail copy.
