This game is excellent. It helps to be Metallica fan of course but even still it's very nicely polished. Best GH game yet. I've got 20 of the 50 achievements so far.
"One" has been recharted from the GH3 version. It's much easier now.

This game is goddamn awesome.
I am a Rock Band > Guitar Hero guy through and through...but dammit, it's Metallica.
LOVE THIS GAME. It's amazing how all the little band movements that are Metallica trademarks were mo-capped for the game. Just amazing...best Guitar Hero game ever.

I'm digging this game too, it is much more polished than previous GH games and they've added a lot of cool stuff - this is how you do a standalone artist release. Really well done. It's strange to excited about a Guitar Hero game again, I didn't think it'd ever happen! The metallifacts is a cool idea (and pretty much equates to the Jukebox Mode that RB failed on) but in the one I watched, the facts started to repeat about 3/4 of the way through, which was kind of lame.... Other than that, I'm enjoying it so far.

A friend of mine rented it, so I got to play it last night for about an hour. I played a few songs on bass and a few on guitar.
It does feel better than NeverSoft's previous releases, and it wasn't absolutely horrific like I have felt their previous efforts were. I enjoyed playing the Metallica tracks, as I grew up with them. I felt the charting was actually pretty decent on the songs I played.
I do still hate the whole interface and UI though. The star-power with the "bulbs" is still pretty unintuitive. HOPOs (for me) are harder to see than the RB way of doing things. When I was on bass and had star-power going, it was pretty hard to notice a single open note thrown in.
In final review, NeverSoft is definitely moving in the right direction with this release. It's not something I'd pick up at full price, but I can see picking it up used at some point and popping it in from time to time.

Just finished...and it is an awesome game. I was able to finish about 70% or so on expert and then had to drop down to hard for solos I just can't do.
I think this is easily better than any GH ever made and better than RB 1 and AC/DC. RB 2 is still clearly superior, but GH is now a great complement to RB.

Also, the loose timing still gets me. I nailed a few sections that I had no business hitting and still kept my 4x. I didn't get that feeling of "man, I fucking nailed that! I rule!" Instead, I got the "Man, I totally shouldn't have gotten that. I feel cheated!"

I think he's mostly talking about me and how anti-GH I am.
I give everything a fair shake and am fairly picky with my rhythm gaming needs. I feel that Harmonix better fits what I am looking for in a music game.
NeverSoft/Activision still don't seem as polished as any of the Harmonix products. The sloppy timing window and the UI are what gets me the most, but there are other things I don't care for as well.

S is right. I am a total 180 from any opinion of his on GH (but still really dig RB as well). Doesn't mean I don't respect him though.

I was hoping the game would be more of a journey through Metallica's career than just the current lineup playing all the songs, but that's minor. Between all the Metallica songs (minus Frantic) and some of the covers, this is like getting a massive track pack for as good a price as Rock Band DLC, so I'm happy.

Why is it still that they can't let us use the Xbox interface for entering names? I absolutely can't stand adding letters one at a time like they have it.
The interface as a whole is utter trash. Just everything about it is bad, but at least they stole the whole "show your amount of stars while you play" thing from Rock Band.
I really would have very few problems with it if they just revamped the UI. Some sort of visible tiers for each instrument on every song would be nice too.

While I hate the song, Frantic on drums was a fucking blast! I beat my snare like a trashcan.

I totally forgot about this part, as Kij was going through all the menus. But the "song select" screen with all the tiers is crazy butt-ugly!

I don't like Metallica and have been pretty down on GH for quite awhile now, but damn if I haven't been enjoying this game for some reason. As others here have noted, they just seem to have made some minor tweaks that are definitely going in the right direction for the franchise.

Re: [It's not a Rumah] Guitar Hero: Metallica ... ?
I've now finished vocals, bass, and guitar careers and am still having a blast, best GH game to date. Not in terms of songs per se, but the charts are spot on and the overall experience is a step up.
