Yeah, I know it's OOP, but if anyone wanted absolute PS1 and PS2 playback, it may be worth it to track one of those down on eBay or something. I've considered just doing that.

Yeah, I got mine (60gb) off dealadeal.com (Refurbished, not "Used", the listings are separate apparently) for around $350 (came out to around $400 after insurance and shipping.) Came with a 90 day warranty which was cool.

From what I read, the 80 GB, while "gimped" works pretty well for BC. Glad I got a 60, though.

Is there any way to manage memory on the PS3? Those huge installs kinda scare me (5 GB needed for Hot Shots Golf : OOB? Really???) and I don't know how much memory I have left.

yes you can delete installs at any time (especially when you are not playing the game regularly)

and you can check available memory at any time under system information

Thanks for the info. And you can delete installs without affecting game saves, right? I found that I had 3 gigs used by VF5 that I rented for a weekend. Sheesh!

Has anyone had this problem while watching blu ray movies on their PS3? Every now and then, the screen will just flash green for a fraction of a second. It almost looks like the red or blue cables came loose for a second, and all I got is green, but that's not it, because I'm using HDMI.

Not during it, but I get flashes when it's changing between different things (Blu-ray, DVD, XMB, games, etc.) and my TV searches for the new signal. Mine is also connected by HDMI. Maybe your signal is dropping for a second?

I'm getting that green screen as well with my new PS3 using HDMI on a LCD TV.

It sounds like an HDMI handshake issue.

I had a problem until I bought a different HDMI switcher.

A lot of the GameStop stores are doing it, but it's not all of em. There's a PDF out there of the list of stores taking part. I'll see if I can find it really quick.

EDIT:

Here ya go:

Yes, a cheap Monoprice one. I returned it without an issue. Then I bought one from Amazon and that worked better, but now I can't use the switcher with my cable box -- it enables some sort of Macrovision protection so I can't watch TV. Still with my current one I can switich between by PS3, my HD DVD player and my DVD without a problem.

Hmm, I'm not using a switcher, the cable goes directly from the PS3 to the projector. I did get the cable from monoprice though, maybe it's bad?

I'm still rooting that it will fall to $14.98 eventually at Target. It may take another few months though.... I still have 4-5 games I haven't opened yet (a run of deals on clearance items I couldn't pass up).

I'm going to hold off on this as well. Plus, I've noticed a number of games that have had it's list price dropped. $39.99 seems to be the new list price for UTIII and Orange Box. I feel fairly confident that Uncharted will hit this new, lower list price soon.

Does anyone know if it's possible to control your desktop from logmein.com via the PS3 browser? (I'm at work, can't try it myself)

Grrr...

On Friday I borrowed GTAIV from a friend who'll be out of town for a few weeks. After a few hours of play, the screen froze, and ever since, I've been getting some mysterious Error Code 80010514 every time I try to load a game. If you listen to the interwebs, "they" say this is the PS3 equivalent of the 360's RROD. It looks like I may need a replacement PS3...is there a support group out there to help me get through my imminent withdrawal pains?

What part of "midnight release" means that there's giveaways?
