I think you misread me. I didnt mean the limited edition game. Theres the limited edition ps3 system. It's a specialy designed ps3. Not sure if you can still order it or not? I heard you can order at a web site.

We've finally received word that the long awaited, and much rumored, PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.40 is indeed the real deal and is said to be coming relatively soon. Many of the most requested features, such as a universal friends list and in-game messaging will be included, in addition to a few rather nice surprises (*cough*soundtracks*cough*). We definitely can't divulge all of the details, but trust us, it's coming.
We aren't yet 100% sure of the actual release date, but all signs point to sometime in June. We're guesing that Sony will probably detail 2.40 in the coming weeks.

I went ahead and pre-ordered the MGS4 PS3 bundle at my local TRU just in case I can't get it at Amazon for some reason. If Amazon sticks it up for pre-order, I'll order it there instead to save on tax, and also because I have Amazon credit in my account.
Either way, I'm just glad I have it for pre-order somewhere now.

Lyle Lanley: Well, sir, there's nothing on earth
Like a genuine,
Bona fide,
Electrified,
Six-car
monoprice
What'd I say?
Ned Flanders: monoprice!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
Patty+Selma: monoprice!
Lyle Lanley: That's right! monoprice!
[crowd chants `monoprice' softly and rhythmically]
Miss Hoover: I hear those things are awfully loud...
Lyle Lanley: It glides as softly as a cloud.
Apu: Is there a chance the track could bend?
Lyle Lanley: Not on your life, my Hindu friend.
Barney: What about us brain-dead slobs?
Lyle Lanley: You'll be given cushy jobs.
Abe: Were you sent here by the devil?
Lyle Lanley: No, good sir, I'm on the level.
Wiggum: The ring came off my pudding can.
Lyle Lanley: Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear it's Springfield's only choice...
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
All: monoprice!
Lyle Lanley: What's it called?
All: monoprice!
Lyle Lanley: Once again...
All: monoprice!
Marge: But Main Street's still all cracked and broken...
Bart: Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken!
All: monoprice!
monoprice!
monoprice!
[big finish]
monoprice!
Homer: Mono... D'oh!

I know that everyone loves Monoprice(as do I), but in keeping with my Target clearance theme, give them a look. I picked up a really well made 6' Psyclone Essentials HDMI(for the XBOX system) cable for $4.98.

Would this get the job done?

I'll give Target a look, although the clearance section at my local store is almost always totally ravaged.

So, is there going to be any difference between the 80GB that was previously released and recently discontinued vs. the newer one that is being bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4? I realize it comes with the new DualShock controller, which I'm not really concerned with. I am happy getting the 40GB over the OLD 80GB system, but if this new version has anything improved I want to weigh my option accordingly before jumping the proverbial gun here.

There was some speculation that this new 80 GB wouldn't have all the BC compatibility of the previous version, but nothing is confirmed, afaik. If you have any interest in BC or in MGS4, then go with the new bundle, otherwise that $100 GC that is currently given with the $399 40 GB at Walmart and at Best Buy makes that deal VERY tempting. There is a very limited gunmetal grey version, but that's like an extra $100.
