I still don't think the PS3 is a great pick for a first console of this gen, but as a media hub, it does trump the 360 and any other player on the market. It trumps the 360 due to BD playback, but the huge plus for me is being able to stream video content from your PC without needing any special hardware or software.
OK, so out of curiosity... for those of you who have multiple systems who are buying MGS4, what was the last PS3 game you bought? The last game I bought was Eye of Judgment seven months ago.

I recently picked up a few PS3 games during the B2G1 sale at Gamestop (w/ Edge card):
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet & Clank
Hot Shots Golf
also picked up (on the cheap via trades)
Lair
Warhawk
Resistance
Uncharted
You, however, are probably referring to "new" games...that would be the only game that I have paid full price for (well, with Blockbuster store credit anyway)
MLB 08 The Show

MLB08 - couple months ago.
Oh, and PixelJunk Monsters... which is like liquid, digital crack.
Am I wrong or couldn't you just skip the cinematics in MGS3? I really don't remember watching that much. If you like the MGS series, they're certainly no reason to skip MGS3. I liked that one much better than MGS2 (which I didn't finish, but not because of the cut-scenes). And I doubt they're a legitimate reason to skip MGS4. If they're a pain, skip them. Skim them. Whatever.

Now I'm just deciding if I should get the limited version of MGS or not.

I bought Heavenly Sword -traded it away still got Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Uncharted and recently bought MLB '08 The Show
I'll probably end up getting MGS 4 down the road but I just like playing video games on my 360 better.

The only game I own for the system in Eye of Judgment. I have rented a few things but nothing to date has been worth picking up at full price or discounted. A number of games on the horizon keep me hopeful that someday I will have a decent selection of PS3 games. If I could have Little Big Planet now I would would slap on an adult diaper and not stop playing till that thing was topped off.

I just posted in the MGS4 thread -- OPM just put out their review. 5 stars, glowing. Game sounds brilliant even though there are some very long cutscenes to sit through. I know the discussion is below, but just wanted to mention it here. The game came out great, which is what everyone has been expecting for a couple of years now.

Yeah, Uncharted is my favorite game in the PS3, and it's in my all time Top10 list.
It's not a long game, it took 11.5 hrs to finish it and I can see myself playing the entire game again in the future, researching more all the areas.

Intresting. Asking that same question in the 360 thread would probably yield very different responses.
I didn't know Echochrome had user-created levels. The game just seemed to slow for me.

I found a stack of "Orange Box" games the other day, so I'm in the process of flipping them (bought for $15, trading for $30). I left some for gamers, but it's an awesome value if you haven't played Half Life yet. I only use it for Portal and Team Fortress 2, and either is worth the $15.
