Assassin's Creed is fun so far, though I'm only in the beginning, as I don't play much. The Echochrome demo is wicked fun, I need to buy the full game still.

I just posted in the MGS4 thread -- OPM just put out their review. 5 stars, glowing. Game sounds brilliant even though there are some very long cutscenes to sit through. I know the discussion is below, but just wanted to mention it here. The game came out great, which is what everyone has been expecting for a couple of years now. |

I just started Uncharted over the weekend. All I can say is WOW, that game looks freakin sweet in hi def.
|
Yeah, Uncharted is my favorite game in the PS3, and it's in my all time Top10 list.
It's not a long game, it took 11.5 hrs to finish it and I can see myself playing the entire game again in the future, researching more all the areas. |
Intresting. Asking that same question in the 360 thread would probably yield very different responses.
I didn't know Echochrome had user-created levels. The game just seemed to slow for me. |

I left some for gamers, but it's an awesome value if you haven't played Half Life yet. I only use it for Portal and Team Fortress 2, and either is worth the $15. |
where did you find the 15 dollar orange boxes at?

I preordered the LE today. Is there anything on that bonus dvd that would spoil the game itself?

I think you misread me. I didnt mean the limited edition game. Theres the limited edition ps3 system. It's a specialy designed ps3. Not sure if you can still order it or not? I heard you can order at a web site. |
The LE bundle is on konami.com

We've finally received word that the long awaited, and much rumored, PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.40 is indeed the real deal and is said to be coming relatively soon. Many of the most requested features, such as a universal friends list and in-game messaging will be included, in addition to a few rather nice surprises (*cough*soundtracks*cough*). We definitely can't divulge all of the details, but trust us, it's coming.
We aren't yet 100% sure of the actual release date, but all signs point to sometime in June. We're guesing that Sony will probably detail 2.40 in the coming weeks. http://www.gaming-age.com/news/2008/5/29-48 |

I've been looking for Motostorm forever! (@14.98).

Anyone hear any news if/when PlayTV will be released in North America? I'm picking up a PS3 this weekend and this feature intrigues me.
|
I went ahead and pre-ordered the MGS4 PS3 bundle at my local TRU just in case I can't get it at Amazon for some reason. If Amazon sticks it up for pre-order, I'll order it there instead to save on tax, and also because I have Amazon credit in my account.
Either way, I'm just glad I have it for pre-order somewhere now. |
When are they going to start selling PNS points in B&M places?

Do any of the PS3 bundles come with an HDMI cable, and if not what's the cheapest way to go to get one?
|
monoprice.com Greatest cable deals ever.

I know that everyone loves Monoprice(as do I), but in keeping with my Target clearance theme, give them a look. I picked up a really well made 6' Psyclone Essentials HDMI(for the XBOX system) cable for $4.98.
|
Would this get the job done?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...SO9A1&v=glance I'll give Target a look, although the clearance section at my local store is almost always totally ravaged. :( |

I am happy getting the 40GB over the OLD 80GB system, but if this new version has anything improved I want to weigh my option accordingly before jumping the proverbial gun here.
|
There was some speculation that this new 80 GB wouldn't have all the BC compatibility of the previous version, but nothing is confirmed, afaik. If you have any interest in BC or in MGS4, then go with the new bundle, otherwise that $100 GC that is currently given with the $399 40 GB at Walmart and at Best Buy makes that deal VERY tempting. There is a very limited gunmetal grey version, but that's like an extra $100.
|
Is it the 60 GB that pretty much has a PS2 inside of it, allowing for complete playback, without any problems, of all PS1 and PS2 games?
|
20 and 60. Both are long OOP.

Yeah, I know it's OOP, but if anyone wanted absolute PS1 and PS2 playback, it may be worth it to track one of those down on eBay or something. I've considered just doing that.
|
Yeah, I got mine (60gb) off dealadeal.com (Refurbished, not "Used", the listings are separate apparently) for around $350 (came out to around $400 after insurance and shipping.) Came with a 90 day warranty which was cool.
|
From what I read, the 80 GB, while "gimped" works pretty well for BC. Glad I got a 60, though.
Is there any way to manage memory on the PS3? Those huge installs kinda scare me (5 GB needed for Hot Shots Golf : OOB? Really???) and I don't know how much memory I have left. |
You can delete game installs from the game data utlity.
|
yes you can delete installs at any time (especially when you are not playing the game regularly)
and you can check available memory at any time under system information |
