It would kick ass if the trophies included old ps1 and ps2 games!

I wish they would make the damn FW updates available online the same time they go live via network update

it takes much less time for me to download via pc to usb than it does going through the molasass of the PSN

Will they ever address this? It seems like their online servers are just dirt slow, but I've never seen even any comments from Sony about it. And I've waited at times to download updates for a few weeks before, still slow.

My cheapness has finally caught up with me. I bought a 20 gig PS3 around launch because I didn't need the Wi-Fi and wanted the emotion chip to play PS2 games. I just moved and now the modem isn't anywhere near my media center, this sucks.

Is there an easy way to make the PS3 Wi-Fi compatible? On my 360 I tried to make my Linksys router into a bridge, but that shit was way over my head and I broke down and bought the adapter. Does anyone know if you can use a standard wireless adapter?

I've got a Belkin USB network adapter, but I can't figure out how to get the thing connected to the PS3.

I'd be happy to help you with this if you're up for it. I talked my extremely non-technical younger brother through the process over the phone a few months ago.

If you're interested in trying, let me know what model linksys you have (and revision). See this link for a starting point as to what we're looking for: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...d_til_today.29

The USB ones will be dependent on drivers... I'd just go with a bridge (similar to the official one for the original Xbox) which you'd maybe have to plug into a computer first to configure, but after that will basically just bridge your ethernet port on the PS3 into a wireless signal.

My opinion is that it is worth it to try to get your linksys re-configured as a 4-port wireless bridge (as most retail ones are single port). This way you can use it for both your PS3 and 360 and sell the official 360 one.

pinata, I might take you up on that. I've got a Linksys wrt54g version 2 router that I'm not using, but I went to that dd-wrt site and tried to figure out how to download the proper version and flash it to the drive and was certain that I couldn't do it.

But before I frustrate the hell out of you with my technological ineptness, does anyone know if the regular 360 adapter that should be arriving today (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-...3812937&sr=1-4) , work with the PS3 as well? (forgive me if that's an idiotic question, I readily admit my non A/V electronics ignorance)

I doubt it will work. Even if it does work, obviously it can only be connected to one device and you'd have to move it around. Or is this a 2nd 360 adapter?

Just went to the link... That might actually work because it is just technically a bridge but it wouldn't be configurable through the PS3. You'd have to configure it through the 360 and/or a PC. Still only one-port so you'd have to switch which console was attached to it.

Nope, I was just going to move it as needed. I almost never use the PS3 online, but if you're saying that I can use this router to hook up both the 360 and PS3 it might be worth the trouble. Ok, here's where I got to: (and we can take this to email or PM if you would be so kind as to help me through this) - I believe I downloaded the proper .bin file from the site. I've plugged in my extra router, but I can't get into the configuration settings because the 192.168... site takes me to my Verizon router and I couldn't figure out how to get around that.

Funny that they brand it a "360 adapter" when it's really the original Xbox adapter. It works with the 360, and is configurable with it (or a computer) as well, but I think they stopped production after the 360 came out. And yes, once configured it will allow any one of your wired consoles/devices to attach to your wireless router.

I did notice that, but for the ~$40 difference I didn't think it was worth it. Amazon was the only place I could even find that still carried that adapter and enough people said that it worked well enough with the 360 that I thought it would be pretty safe.

It's not as bad as the shenanigans Gamestop's pulling - they have a pre-order up for the MGS bundle which they also say is coming in a week, but those fuckers are charging $55 extra for it.
The extra $55 is from another DS3.

thanx but I'll download from a trusted site
still doesn't answer the question why Sony can't put this update on their site the day it is available
