There's a sequel coming:

"We have not abandoned the franchise. And we are working on something, but I'm not willing to talk more about that."

The news follows last month's admission by EA Games Label boss Frank Gibeau that ideas for a sequel to the DICE game are being worked on. At the time, he said he's sure we'll see the IP combined with the Battlefield developer's new Frostbite 2 engine.

In March, Gibeau told CVG that not only is DICE's Mirror's Edge franchise very much still alive - but that EA is "figuring out a way to bring it back".

Standard issue FPS games make me a little queasy. I watched my nephew play this one... yeah, it's not for me.

My nephew will be happy that there's going to be a sequel, though.

I imagine it would be worse for you than typical FPS, since the movement is so demanding in comparison and you're often running. It's essentially a first-person platformer.

Good news about the sequel, but I really hope the "way to bring it back" doesn't involve neutering the concept like Burnout Crash.

Yeah, I could only take a few minutes of watching him play before I had to bail. What I saw looked neat, though.

I wish I could handle FPS because some of those types of games look sweet. Occasionally I'll switch over to that mode when I'm playing Fallout: New Vegas, but that's just when I'm leisurely poking around a room, not running and gunning.

Re: Mirror's Edge (360, PS3, PC)

So I finally got this game for PC. I really don't get whats going on in the plot, aside from a murder and Faith's sister being framed, but I'm really enjoying the heck out of this game. Sadly, my streak of not using guns ended in a room full of those cops. I tried running passed and through them but got so frustrated, got one of their shotguns and blasted away.

I had read that there was a strong possiblity of an E3 announcement for the sequel. Did that ever happen?

That sucks. Finishing without guns was super satisfying.

I need to replay this since I recently got a projector. I need to see the 1st person parkour on a 12' screen.

Yeah, once I finish this playthrough, I'll start over and force myself to finish sans guns.

Re: Mirror's Edge (360, PS3, PC)

XBLA has this and some other EA stuff on sale. ME is $4.94. I played the demo when that first came out and really dug it. For some reason I never bought it. Can't say no to $4.94 for this.

It's a good game to play through once. The environment and atmosphere are beautiful. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a next gen version closer to when the sequel comes out.

Re: Mirror's Edge (360, PS3, PC)

Funny this thread was bumped as I was just reading about the sequel the other day. It is still coming out, although it might actually be a prequel on the origins of Faith. Here is an article with some more info on it:

Article also includes the official teaser from E3 last June:

Yeah, once Battlefield 4 is fixed. So it should come out sometime in 2018.

Love that trailer... until the kick-to-the-nuts tagline.

What's wrong with Battlefield 4 (I haven't gotten it yet)?

Really? You haven't heard anything about Battlefield 4? It's been out for 3 months and still broken as all hell. Take a look at the other thread for more details.

Haven't heard a thing. I was just waiting for it to drop below $20 on STeam before I bothered taking a crack at it. So I've no clue of anything going wrong.
