It's $15.40 if you are a Pro member and want store credit. My guess is the employee had no idea what they were doing, which is not remotely surprising  |
Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
I have a shitty GameStop story to beat them all. I was friends with the managers at my local one. They let me in the back to play the Naruto game that was huge at the time and the GM even kept a Wii reserved for me, since they were constantly sold out at the time.

Remember, by Game Stop standards, she wasn't used.

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
You guys are reading that wrong. They just gave her bad trade in value.

My first impression was, how long were you playing that Naruto game and how into it were you, but then I surmised that those were two different (maybe three different, I hope) times, right?

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
So yesterday they announced a stock split which popped the stock price, today they announced layoffs including the CFO (150 people?)

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
Yeah, these sound like deep cuts. Judging by the mournful tweets from a lot of staff, it sounds like Game Informer has been completely hollowed out or close enough to it.

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
Super dumb question, but I'm asking here since I've never actually pre-ordered a game at GameStop before.
A few weeks ago, I went in to pre-order physical copies of Bayonetta 1 & 3 on Switch. Paid my money, got a receipt. Walked out. Bayonetta 1 comes out this Friday. Is it safe to assume I can just walk in anytime on Friday to grab the game, or do I specifically have to wait until they call me to say my pre-order has arrived? As I said, I pre-ordered in-store, so I don' t have a confirmation email/text. Just the receipt. |
Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
They may ask you to kindly wait until they get a chance to open your copy and play it first.

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
My Gamestop Pro membership expired a couple of months ago. Does anyone know if they still allow you to purchase digital currency with the $5 monthly reward? Thinking of re-upping to try and cut the cost of my daughters Fortnite addition. lol

Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
I've had no problem using it on digital Xbox currency, as recently as October 1. You can even do it on gamestop.com instead of walking into the store. The only caveat is that the currency has to be worth more than the coupon. So I get $10 but only pay $5. That's fine with me.

I believe they walked that back, but obviously they believe they have the right to take it away at any time.

Fortnite is a money making beast. Personally I find their business model disgusting and predatory, but there are tens of millions of people shoveling billions of dollars of revenue into it. |
Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
I understand that, but the way you worded it is that you can't say no to spending money on it. Once in a blue moon I'd let my kids have some digital currency(usually a reward, gift or a special occasion), but once they spent it, that was it.
Not trying to sound like a dick, it just sounded like your kid is holding you hostage over Fortnite. I found that amusing. Nothing more. |
Re: GameStop is Vile and Disgusting Part XXVII
My daughter has spent quite a bit of money on it, but some of that is money from birthdays, etc. After reading a recent thread over at SD I took a chance and bought another Pro membership. After ordering the Fortnite pack online I asked the guys in store was it still allowed just to confirm and they said yes. So spending $5 for a $10 PSN card(Xbox One is currently having issues) each month for something that keeps her happy is ok by me. I'll go back to getting Xbox currency after the new year as I got her a Series X for Christmas(which she doesn't know about) as she likes the Xbox systems more.

If you're just going to use it on Fortnite, don't they have their own currency you can buy from Gamestop (since I believe it's a cross platform game)? Obviously if it's not all for her you should buy the PSN/Xbox points.
