Shows what I know. I thought there already were DSi only games. Wasn't there some rhythm game that came out with the DSi that everything was gushing over?

Fewer sales and/or confusion for the average shopper. I can already see people lining up at the return counter to return games (that are no longer returnable, btw) because they don't work on their DS.

That didn't seem to be a problem with the GameBoy Color.

Or the Super Nintendo, or PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, etc.

The packaging will be different to distinguish them and they'll be labeled as DSi only.

Actually, that was a problem.

And is the tech between the DS and the DSi really that different that they need to make DSi games that are unable to play on the DS?

It has twice the CPU speed and four times the RAM.

In other words, yes.

Nintendo said the same thing about the Wii compared to the Cube, and 3 years in, I've yet to see the difference.

It wasn't an issue at all. Some games were hybrid and worked on both and some were exclusive. As the Color took over eventual most of the games were for Color. This may not happen with the DSi, but I would hope it would get games that use its extra features. DSi Ware is nice, but it needs full games as well. If all we get are camera games though I will probably pass.

The same thing is going on with the DSi. As I stated, KORG DS-10 Plus and Zelda: Spirit Tracks will both be dual mode carts. KORG DS-10 Plus (music software, not a game) will operate as the original software on the DS but will allow for double the synths, drums and patterns if used on the DSi (using the extra CPU and RAM). Zelda: Spirit Tracks (thus far) will just have some camera bonuses. The first retail DSi-only release in Japan will be Monster Finder, which is primarily camera focused (which I think will basically act like Monster Rancher on the PS1 generating data from music CDs).

Basically, it'll probably be a slow burn until Nintendo releases something big, like Super Mario Bros. DX on the GBC.

KORG DS-10 Plus and Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be DS games with DSi features.

A sequel/prequel to Okami is coming out for the DS.

Also, Nintendo Power is teasing a DSiWare game in their next issue that will get gamers excited.

Spoiler:
I think it might have something to do with genies and pirates.

Is Okami going to be DSi only?

That is really cool, btw. There is another camera game added called System Flaw that also has you using the camera on real objects as well. I'm hoping for more stuff like KORG that is using the extra power of the DSi.

My second favorite game on the Wii, second only to Super Mario Galaxy. A DS sequel sounds pretty good.

So are you saying that the Wii could have been creating using Gamecube specs?

Not sure this has been mentioned... two new DSi colors are being released on 9/13: pink and white.

Right now, Amazon has a promo where you can get a DSi and pick a game or accessory for free.

Games include:
  • Drawn to Life: SpongeBob Edition
  • Sherlock Holmes
  • GTA
  • Rhythm Heaven
  • Up
  • Some murder mystery game
  • ... check this link for others

Yeah, it is way worse than the GBA milky pink and then the DS Lite metallic pink. Are the 80s really back so much that everything is going to be neon now?

I really hope we don't have to have another stupid argument about the DSi replacing the DS, and how furious it makes people. Jesus Christ.
