Nintendo pulled off a master coup. They knew the Wii couldnt compete PS3/Xbox 360 in terms of graphics etc, so they had to go in a completely different direction.
Looks like it was a smart choice. Nintendo went from making gaming systems for gamers, to a family entertainment system, for everyone.

I think nintendo says that BMI should be used only for guidelines, especially for children.
ANd it does say Obese, because after a certain point, you are no longer overweight..but obese.
And no way anyone ever wins a case because their child had lower self-esteem because of a game?

You might be all muscle, or big boned. Obviously other tests would have to be taken to determine what is going on.
But if you told someone that you were 5'6 and 170 pounds, most people would say that is overweight.

I think the BMI scale works best for the "average" person out there who doesn't really dedicate much extra time to working out, other than day to day life like walking down the street, and that sort of thing.

Okay, color me impressed. I put 15 minutes into my time bank and actually worked up a good sweat and it felt really good. I did a few activities from the strength, stamina and balance exercises. For the record I have been doing off and on running/jogging around the neighborhood for a little while and I definitely like the variety and focus the Wii Fit software puts into it.
(Although my TRUE problem lies in eating like a piggy, Wii can't help with that.. yet).
I'll be starting a progress thread shortly.

If in the free jogging, the game wouldn't stop tripping over my Mii when i go too fast then that could be really good exercise. I really wish it let you go as fast as you possibly can

I like how the wii tried to temper your weightloss (3 pounds every 2 weeks). When I tried to burn more pounds per time period, it asked if I really wanted to do that.
Anyways, I did some of the hula hoop, man that can get my heart beat going really quick.

I also like that it adds the wii fit chan to your screen so you can weigh in without having to put the game in.

I started playing with it for a few minutes last night. It said that I was normal weight. Not sure if i was reading it right but also noticed that you can set a goal to gain weight. Do they just mean bulding muscle?

Well I definately got some good work out of it.
I really tried my hand at the balance games, these don't get your heart beating, but it improves your balance.
ANd let me just say, my balance sucks!
I also like being able to open up new challenges, using this thing is sort of fun!

Cracked it open last night.. Couldn't wait any longer.. I didn't have much time to play it but I got my profile created and did the first two exercises in the strength category (the leg extensions and pushups).
I have to say I really like it so far even though I haven't done much yet..
The only issue I had was I didn't put the extra legs on initially and it weighed me at 150.. I am 183 according to my bathroom scale.. I put the extra legs on and it had me at 178 (I choose to +/- 0 lbs for the clothing).. So it differs from my home scale by 5 lbs..
Anyone else see that much of a difference?

I have it and really enjoyed it for the past 2 days. I am a normal person who understands the difference between going to the gym and using weights and such versus a video training program. But using the board adds to a level that is almost equal to a personal trainer and being hooked up to probes & a computer like that Rocky movie and telling me what adjustments that I need.
When you see some of the exercises , you think that they look dumb or have no value of fitness then you are very wrong. The super hoola hoop had me sweating and my abs burning at the 3rd minute. You don't realize it at 1st then it makes you a believer.
My balance is way off and I look foward to trying to fix it.
Lastly, I hope 3rd party software comes out that really enhances this. I would like to see real footage of jogging trails like take me on a beach or throught the redwoods of cali. Let me ski real world mountains. Have the mii channel have new recipes everyday.

I think if the carpet is thick/high, then if it even comes close to the board, its going to skew it.

Sony and MS are just wading about in Nintendo's pool now.
They have now made people realize the Wii is more than a gaming rig.
