Anybody got any tips for cheap Microsoft Points? The 9600 I bought during the B1G1 sale at CC last year are down to a mere 1680. Rock Band is poised to make sure those are gone by mid-Summer, I'd estimate.

Not to mention Castle Crashers and the PQ expansion...

If you're a TRUE cheapskate, I think people are still abusing the Google Checkout $10 deal but I think it's limited to how many credit cards you have. Otherwise the only thing off the top of my head would be to grab a 4000 off of Amazon to skip on the tax.

Use the GCO at buy.com and get a 4000 pt card for $39.99, other than that it might be worth it just to buy em small doses off the marketplace and let em add up.

That's right. If I wanted classic games without online multiplayer, I would buy a Wii.

I stopped by TRU today just to look and the guy told me they're having a 20% off of Clearance games and I picked up Stranglehold(reg 19.99) for 15.98 + tax = $17.30.

Nothing was posted but the guy working the games section mentioned it to me so I bit since I wanted the game.

If you're going to TRU tomorrow, there's also a $5 off $25 coupon for Friday/Saturday that is making the rounds on the internet.

Call of Duty 4 DLC Sets Xbox LIVE Record
Written Friday, April 18, 2008 by James Parkin

Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that the Call of Duty 4®: Modern Warfare™ Variety Map Pack, developed by Infinity Ward, has set a new record for the number of paid downloads on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, surpassing one million downloads in the first nine days since its release. Additionally, Xbox LIVE members played more than 30 million sessions and logged more than 30 million hours of gameplay. Available exclusively for download via Xbox LIVE online entertainment network now through April 24, the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack expands the experience of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the worldwide best-selling game in units of 2007, according to The NPD Group, Chart Track and The GFK Group. Since its release, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold in excess of nine million units worldwide.

The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack includes four new multiplayer maps featuring a variety of locations, while supporting split-screen and system link play for 800 Microsoft Points.

“Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare delivers one of the best online multiplayer experiences ever,” said Will Kassoy, senior vice president, global brand management, Activision Publishing, Inc. “We are excited to be able to expand that experience and deliver to fans a new variety of locations and environments which have all of the intensity they have come to expect with Call of Duty.”

“Infinity Ward is extremely grateful for support from our loyal Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare community around the world,” said Robert Bowling, community relations manager, Infinity Ward. “From the beginning, we were committed to do our best and that continues now with the Variety Map Pack. We can’t wait to get back online with everyone.”

The momentum will continue this weekend as Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) has teamed with Activision, Inc., (Nasdaq: ATVI) and Infinity Ward to launch its newest online offensive: Call of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare™ LIVE Fire Weekend 2008, a 72-hour play and win sweepstakes full of games and prizes beginning on Friday, April 18 at 12:01 a.m. EDT through Sunday, April 20 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Hourly prizes will be awarded throughout the weekend, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare shirts, Infinity Ward autographed posters and Xbox LIVE point cards. One Grand Prize winner also will receive an Infinity Ward autographed Xbox 360 Elite console and a Limited Edition Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare faceplate, among other items. Players can register now through April 17, 2008 at 11:59 p.m. EDT at www.xbox.com/livefire/.

Is it just me, or does it feel like COD4 totally took away all the hype that Halo 3 previously had? Doesn't feel like Halo is mentioned at all anymore.

I don't have COD4 or Halo 3 (OK, I don't even have a 360), but I'm always fascinated by the buzz surrounding games - particularly after release. And by judging word of mouth, Halo 3 obviously had plenty of chatter going during the marketing stage, but COD4 just seems to have the real legs with gamers.

That said, if I ever get a 360, these would be the two games I would try first - besides all of those cool arcade games like Pac-Man CE.

Yeah, I don't play much online multiplayer, but when I do, it's CoD4. If that never came out, it would've been Halo3 - and I'm certainly not the only one, so you could say CoD4 definitely stole it's thunder in that regard.

I'm excited about Soul Calibur, that game looked really good in the Dreamcast, I can only imagine how it'll look in HD.

I bought the COD4 maps, and I don't play COD4 that often, but the maps are amazingly fun, and "everybody has them." I wouldn't buy the Halo maps, partially because they said "these will be free in a few months" but COD4 seems like it worth it.

Call of Duty 4 Gets XBL Download Record, 9 Million Units Sold

Publisher Activision has announced that Xbox Live Marketplace sales for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's Variety Map Pack have already exceeded one million paid downloads nine days after its release, setting a new record for the service.

In addition, Xbox Live members have played over 30 million sessions and logged more than 30 million hours of gameplay with the Infinity Ward-developed first-person shooter.

In new information released by Activision following yesterday's NPD results, since the game's multiplatform release, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has sold in excess of nine million units worldwide.

The Variety Map Pack includes four new multiplayer maps and is available exclusively through the Xbox Live Marketplace until April 24, when the maps will be made available on the PlayStation Network for $9.99. The set sells for the same price on Xbox Live.

Community relations manager Robert Bowling said, “Infinity Ward is extremely grateful for support from our loyal Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare community around the world. From the beginning, we were committed to do our best and that continues now with the Variety Map Pack. We can’t wait to get back online with everyone.”

I wonder if everyone will still be playing COD 4 when part 5 comes out this fall (different team making it and a different setting).

I imagine, since the team making 5 is the team that made the abomination that was CoD 3.
