Maybe at GameRush or EB, but Wal-Mart, K-Mart (where I found my extra), Best Buy, etc... I've only ever seen them at the $9.99 price.

Amazon currently has it for $9.99 as a sale price
Bestbuy.com shows it at $9.99 as the regular price.

Hmm. Nintendo's online store is selling it for $14.99. I could have sworn that there was a press release or article stating it would be $9.99.

That's funny that Nintendo themselves are charging $14.99 for the wheel! What's weird is, there was something posted, somewhere, where it showed that Nintendo's suggested retail price for the Wii Wheel was $9.99. I've seen it with my own eyes, I just can't remember where. Regardless, around here, stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, and Walmart are selling the Wii Wheel for $9.99. They have been since Mario Kart Wii launched. Of course, I guess if they get wind that Nintendo, themselves, are selling it for $14.99, then they may raise the price.

Just to add to the confusion...I just checked BestBuy.com, and they are charging $12.99 for the Wii Wheel:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1205538350084

Walmart.com is charging $9.96:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=9204255

CircuitCity.com is charging $14.99:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Ninte...oductDetail.do

Target.com doesn't even offer it.

Why the strange pricing from all of these different sources?

I got mine in-store at BB for $9.99, I don't know why the other retailers are charging more.

I asked the manager of the Blockbuster about the wheels, wound up getting 2 for free. So if you're friendly with your local Blockbuster manager or worker, its worth a shot.

There is a possible way to escape the blue shell,
but timing is really really key.

You have to have a mushroom,
when the blue shell is just about to crash down on you, boost with a mushroom, and you actually can avoid the explosion.

Interesting. I would say chances of being in first with a mushroom are slim. Couple that with timing it just right makes it sound like avoiding them is a very rare occurance.

Or you can hit one of the cannon's that shoot you out right before the blue shell hits you. That is even more rare, but I have done it.

Can somebody who works for Blockbuster Video help me answer a question?

My rental of Mario Kart got converted into a sale. I went to the store to ask for the wheel that should come with it. The clerk said it doesn't come with it, but I can purchase one for $9.99. I informed the clerk that there is no other way to purchase a copy of Mario Kart but with the wheel.

She then looked behind the counter for copies available for sale, all of which obviously contain a wheel in the large box. She then said when they received copies of the game for rental, only copies of the game were sent to them, no wheels. (although they have them for sale) So my question is this: is it true that their copies for rent do not actually come with a wheel?

(Yes, I know the obvious solution is to return the rental and buy a fresh copy. That's what I intend to do.)

Thanks for any help.

no way no how. Nintendo isn't going to create a completely different SKU just for blockbuster. Nintendo's business is selling units. The manual is trilingual just so they don't have to have separate ones for all the different languages.

I pretty much came to the same conclusion too.

So does anyone have a suggestion on how I can argue that I am owed a wheel for the game?

Yeah, don't bother. You have to ask yourself if the money you stand to save is worth the time you're going to waste trying to get the wheel. They've made the choice to sell the wheels separately from their rental copies, so now you have to make the choice of whether you want to buy them both separately. Blockbuster doesn't "owe" you anything, so you might as well buy the full package somewhere else.

I strongly disagree with the fact that blockbuster does not "owe" him anything. I think its deplorable that they would hold the wheel from him and try to sell it separately for 10 bucks. They DO "owe" him a wheel, however because of thier greed I totally agree that he should return it and buy it elsewhere, the less money they receive the better in my opinion.

I also disagree. He paid for the game. The game comes with a wheel. They need to give him the wheel or the value of the wheel. However, if they sold you the game for $10 less than normal then that is different story.

Yeah, I went to a different BBV today (on the way home from work) and explained how my recent rental became a purchase. I asked about the wheel and this employee (its a different store than the actual one I rented from) also said the games came separately from the wheels.

If someone here works for BBV, can you confirm this? Either way, I think I'll just keep it for exactly 29 days and then return it. (~ $5 to rent the game for < 43 days is not so bad. In the end, THEY lose out since I took their game out of circulation)

Blockbuster made the business decision to sell their inventory of wheels rather than let them take up space for when they eventually started selling off rental copies of their games. Greedy? Absolutely! But they aren't withholding the wheel since it wasn't included with the rental, thus runner001 isn't entitled to it if s/he decides to keep the rental.

But I'm sure we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this. As Baron of Hell noted, if the game was sold for $40 or less, then this is all a moot point anyway. Ultimately, if runner001 doesn't agree with Blockbuster's business decisions, s/he can and should take their business elsewhere.

For the record, I'm a former Blockbuster employee, and they're a company that I hate with every ounce of my being. That said, I doubt they're lying about the games arriving separately from the wheels. When I last worked there the majority of the product processing happened at the distribution centers, so it's entirely possible that the games came in one box and the wheels in another. Then again, I haven't worked there in almost 5 years, so things may have changed since then.
