I'm thinking of going to this. I figure I'd be the coolest one in the room for the first time in my life.

If you want to feel this way, try going to a Comic Book Convention... I went to one with a friend (i had nothing to do that day), and dear lord did I feel like the coolest man on earth then when looking at some of those people

Even if he does set a single person high score, by the time the book comes out, he (and probably others) will have beaten it. Pretty silly for these "records" to be in the book.

That's how I feel when I flip past Jerry Springer on TV...

You'll never get the dragon. :(

I'm more impressed by the press release. What PR firm needed that kind of work?

Again, this is the Guinness World Record, i.e. verified by Guinness World Record's extensive verification process. And we definitely invite Chris and all other players to try and beat the score.

Chris' achievement made the #8 spot on today's Sportscenter highlight real on ESPN. We expect more press to pick up the event as well.

 Wow, that's an amazing amazing amazing score.

Yeah I am not sure if this is a really good thing or a really bad thing. How much money can be made by exploiting this "sport" I guess is the question at hand. I assume that since the idea of video games as a sport and a professional source of employment is so fledgling that more and more people are trying to jump on the bandwagon and take a gamble to see how much money they can make while the craze is blowing up and getting popular.

We, the people, us gamers, who have been at ground zero for years playing games and getting involved in the "scene" tournaments, have known this was inevitable. There has always been the potential for money to be made in this kind of business, it just took a while for people to realize it. In the next few years kids will be identifying more with the person who is best in the world at controlling Kobe Bryant in a video game than Kobe himself.
