That CE looks nice, but not sure it's worth that much to me. Besides, I grabbed the regular version from New Egg at $48, so the CE certainly wasn't worth a $52 premium to me, making my decision much easier.

At least they have the Ruf cars but no later models like the recent RGTs. That would have satisfied me.

They obviously made Porsches for the game but didn't include it in the final product. This screenshot of the GT3 is from 2007.

Pre-ordered the standard version from Amazon - does anyone know if GT supports the G25 wheel and pedals?

Also, I'm stoked that Kart racing is included! Just wondering if there are Kart tracks that weren't included on the track list, or if we'll be racing karts on the big tracks... I must admit taking a kart around the Nordschliefe could be a lot of fun!

Yes, of course it supports G25.

If I do decide to spring for the Driving Force GT, I'm looking at either the

Xlerator Wheel Stand
or the Wheel Stand Pro.

Probably the wheel stand pro as you can collapse it with the wheel and pedals still attached but I think it's about $50 more than the other so maybe not. The ability to fold the Wheel Stand Pro with the unit still attached is huge though.

Ugh.

I'm actually more bummed about the nearly 40 other tracks they had ready for the game, but left out, probably for DLC down the line.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

I don't see the installation as a problem. Other games have had it, and once it's done it's done. I like having the option.

I wish we had an idea of how much more space it will take up. I hope I don't have to replace my 160GB drive.

Is there really a performance hit if you don't install? I don't think my 40GB is going to accommodate installation.

It's just for loading times. You would have to wait longer if you don't install it.

They had the full game set up to play at my local Fry's, on a huge LED tv with a nice wheel and everything. Looked nice, if a little antiseptic.

Now it's a bit different for installing:

Eurogamer has confirmed with Sony that the game will actually have a feature allowing users to install it in chunks while playing. "If users choose not to install the data straight away it will do it in stages as new areas, tracks, etc. are accessed during normal gameplay,"a Sony representative stated. The install weighs in at 6.3 gigglebytes, unsurprising considering there are like eleventy billion cars in the game and takes about 40 minutes when installing straight-up,

I still plan on installing it all at once, although I have no idea what a "gigglebyte" is.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

But, the other article that Slop linked to said there would be a 6.8 GB installation, plus more as you play more of the game. It sounds like the Joystiq article is saying you're going to install everything you unlock whether you like it or not, except that it will be on demand as you get to it.

How do you even tell how much room you have left on the PS3 hard drive?

Thanks. 50g left, so I'm good.
And not that it matters, but I wonder why they are releasing on a Wednesday?

They just had to drag it out one for more day

Looking forward to hearing about the game from people here as i don't have a PS3 and racing games are my favorite genre. I will fork out the bucks for a PS3 if GT5 is in fact the greatest thing ever.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 Prologue - Official Thread

This has got to be, by far, the most unenthusiastic board about GT5's release I've seen, out of the dozen or so message boards I visit.

Blu-Ray.com's GT5 thread is already on page 160, lol
