Red Ring O' Death question

I had just bought Rock Band and put in the disc when all of a sudden the dreaded red ring came on (with a screen saying contact Microsoft). I turned the console off and turned it back on and it seems to be okay (for now). Does this mean the end is near? After all, I did get it last March.

But come on, I just paid a lot of money for Rock Band. Must the fates be so cruel?

That happened to me while playing Halo back in the beginning of October. I did the same thing (turning it off and turning it back on) and it hasn't died yet. You may still get 4 more months out of it. I'm at 4 months and counting.

Thanks for the reply. I played my X-Box all night without incident, so maybe I can relax a little.

I got a RROD back in August but it went away and I played without incident until two days ago, when my 360 abruptly died. So you could have a few more hours or you could have a few more months. Or heck, maybe your 360 will last until the next gen.

Your 360 is overheating. Look for ways to keep it cooler and you may prolong the inevitable death of your console. The problem is generally from the bottom where the gpu and cpu chips are on the motherboard, so you might wanna try something like a laptop style cooling station. Far as I can tell from experience the intercooler doesn't do jack shit.

Funny story, sort of... The day I bought my 360 (Feb 06), I had it turned on with a game in it. I went to hook up an optical cable and POW, RROD. I couldn't believe I forgot to turn it off while I switched wires. Anyhow, back to Walmart I went at midnight & they exchanged it without incident. Man did I learn a lesson that day, lol.
