Gears of War achievement question?

Hey guys, im trying to gather some extra achievement points with GOW, im at 500 so far. Anyway, i wanted 2 know if for example, the Hardcore and Insane Chapter achievements, do i have to play the whole chapter to unlock it or can i for instance, load up the chapter, at the last checkpoint, finish it and unlock the achievement? U dig?

When I went through it you need to complete each checkpoint.
