Endless Ocean (Wii)

Anyone interested in this?

It sounds sorta corny, just swimming around petting fish and feeding them, etc. But it looks really pretty. I think IGN gave it an 8.1 or something. It features Wi-Fi two-player co-op, which is intriguing.

For only $30, I may check it out.

steebo777 01-17-08 08:49 AM

I'm slightly interested, but will be playing too much No More Heroes to get into Endless Ocean quite yet.

Michael Corvin 01-17-08 08:54 AM

I've been saving my $25 TRU Mario gift card for this. Endless Ocean for $5. Can't beat that.

MoviePage 01-17-08 08:55 AM

I was thinking about picking it up. Looks interesting/soothing/fun way to waste time.

RichC2 01-17-08 08:56 AM

I dunno, $25 for No More Heroes sounds like a better deal than Endless Ocean for $5.

Toad 01-17-08 09:02 AM

What's No More Heroes?

[Shit, did I just hijack my own thread?]

I'll stick with water and fish. Lightsabers are no match for a good scuba tank at your side.

My girlfriend is picking this up when I grab No More Heroes, she's a scuba diver and loves ocean stuff.

I posted all this in the main thread back in August. I should have started this thread with all this info instead of posting there. :)

Toad 01-17-08 09:50 AM

Yeah sorry. I don't really visit that thread hoping to find specific game info.

CreatureX 01-17-08 10:12 AM

I would make a custom soundtrack consisting of water level theme music from Nintendo games.

Dire, Dire Docks (Super Mario 64)
Water Temple (Zelda: OoT)
Water Level (Donkey Kong Country)
Lake Hylia (Zelda: TP)

Toad 01-17-08 10:28 AM

Yeah the custom soundtrack thing is cool.

IGN recommends Led Zeppelin's "Rain Song." I may try it.

Michael Corvin 01-17-08 11:18 AM

There are a few discs I have in mind already for my custom soundtracks:

Moodswings: Horizontal
Enigma
An Evening With John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess
Might Could

and a few others. If anyone is open to suggestions, check out the Moodswings disc. It's unofficially subtitled "Water Music" if that gives you any idea to the sound.

PixyJunket 01-17-08 11:22 AM

I've got some ambient/chill-out trance that would be awesome for this.

Liver&Onions 01-17-08 11:44 AM

they kind of went overboard with the number of montipora capricornus in those videos, I mean, sure - montis are hardy and quick growing corals, but there'd be a lot more scrolling and plating of the coral rather than tabling :(

Baron Of Hell 01-17-08 04:48 PM

Ahhhh the ocean, its so...so...endless. The ocean is like a great big glass of blue water, but instead of a glass the earth holds the ocean. It makes want to cry. The tears gather around me and form a ocean, a endless ocean. I float away. I....float....away in a endless ocean. I do not scream. I do not fear. Why would I when I'm home in this ocean. The ocean that is endless is my home. Wiiiiiiiiiiiii I say on the waves. Wiiiiiiiiii look at me as I float away.

This is the nerdiest thing ever posted in VGT. And that's saying a hell of a lot.

QFT!

Oh. Wait.

RichC2 01-17-08 06:57 PM

Tardass! ;)

Ocelot 01-18-08 10:02 AM

How about the controls? I hate inverted settings... Up is Up, not the other way around!

Toad 01-18-08 10:09 AM

Hopefully, if it is inherently inverted, it's customizable.

I'm more and more pumped about this game. For $30? No-brainer to me.

Hopefully the fun doesn't wear off after 10 minutes.

Groucho 01-18-08 10:32 AM

I believe that you point a dot and your dude swims towards the dot. So there's no "inverted" controls.

RichC2 01-18-08 10:34 AM

I still can't shake the idea it's an interactive screen saver. :(

It is extremely interactive though. I can definitely have fun with this screen saver.
