 I'm on the PS3.
I finally broke down and got this four days ago. I already have my 'A' license and am working towards the Burnout License. This isn't a classic Burnout game, but for a $30 download, it's fantastic. I like it more than any other racing game this generation except for Test Drive Unlimited. The map reading is a pain in the ass but I'd rather be frustrated by that than by cheap AI or bad map design (as in previous Burnouts). |
Alright, one thing I can't figure out. How do I do crash mode? I hit up on the D-pad and the street signs turn red. I try to crash into things but nothing happens. I hold L1+R1. I hold R2+L2. I spin myself around. What am I doing wrong? How do I activate it?

When you hit up on the d-pad, is the Best Offline Crash sign red? |
I got bored with doing crash mode just once, and never did it again.
I swear, they had an awesome mode in the previous Burnouts that was basically a skill-based puzzle game which was fresh and new, and they scrap it for this shit because it won't fit into their "sandbox" theme. |
You mean the Showtime mode? on the 360 you just press LB + RB on any street to go into crash mode. I don't recall having to be in the right mode by pressing up on the D-pad.

Well, it finally worked. I guess the game waited until I posted that here.
|
I was at the Playstation Store in SF last Wednesday and was playing the demo for the PS3. I was surprised when I see the message that the game was released in January!
I guess everybody forgot about it because of that, but it should have been in at least a couple GOTY lists. |
I was playing around with my new iPod today on the 360 and loaded up a custom soundtrack of Beatles songs. It's amazing how well nearly every song fit! Either the tempo was perfect or the song worked in some kind of ironic way (Help! while doing Showtime mode was hilarious).
Thought I'd share. |
I love driving around to my music - depending on the song I'll try to find an event that fits it!

Re: Burnout Paradise
Damn you Criterion.... with the GHostbusters Car, I am sold! I dont care how much that expansion pack costs.
On personal muisc, I love hearing mine. Good mix of metal and everything. Beastie Boys goes good on there. |

Damn Knight Rider. I knew it was coming, though the blue lights suck.

Re: Burnout Paradise
This is $20 now at Gamestop, and Best Buy. Might be a universal drop. To think, I just downloaded it from the Playstation Store, too. Oh well.

Re: Burnout Paradise
I had it on the 360, but if it drops to $20 on PSN I might bite. Perfect type of game to have available on the drive all the time, and $20 is low enough to not worry about resale value.

They probably have to be careful on these not to make them too much like the real cars. I think the blue light will look pretty cool at night.

Re: Burnout Paradise
The $20 drop for this is probably due to the ultimate box set coming out next month. That will include all download content and offline multiplayer mode that will also be put up as a DLC for people with the regular version.
I'm not sure If I'll buy it now or wait for the ultimate box. |
