Best Video Game Character?
Overall, who is the best video game character, period. Why?
Just give any 2 characters and a brief reason why they are the best. Once we get an adequate amount We can do a 1 V 1 style thing until the last one stands. Should be fun.

Yeah, I know, they are two of the most obvious choices...but really, each one serves as the face of their company, something Sony and Microsoft haven't ever been able to do...
Not that they need a mascot or even want one, but branding is VERY important, and hell, it can be easily argued that the Sonic brand (and character) itself is the only thing that helped sales of some of their crappy recent titles....although I will admit, I actually liked both Sonic Adventures (the first one was better though), and Sonic Heroes, plus the Wii "Secret Rings"....I know they aren't GREAT games like the Mario ones, but they still entertained me...

Hard to limit to just two characters...
Minsc (Baldur's Gate PC series) - The comedy relief character in the series. He is a ranger who has taken too many blows to the head. His animal companion is a hamster, although Minsc claims it is a miniature giant space hamster.
HK-47 (Knights of the Old Republic series) - Like Minsc, HK-47 is the comedy relief character for KOTOR. HK-47 is basically an evil and more funny C-3PO. HK-47 is a protocol droid who also doubles as an assassin droid.
Honorable mentions:
Irenicus (Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn) - My favorite villain from any video game. This elven wizard is so evil that the elven leaders stripped him of his elven immortality and made him human.
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) - The baddest mother fraking ninja ever.
Kratos (God of War series) - See Ryu Hayabusa, although substitute ninja for Spartan warrior.
Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island series) - Pirates rule and insult fighting kicks ass.

Darth Revan is one of the villains in Knights of the Old Republic.
I nominated Minsc and HK-47 and explained who they were in my post above. Minsc is the comic relief in the Baldur's Gate series on PC. HK-47 is the comic relief in the Knights of the Old Republic series.
I have no idea who Ralgha "Hobbes" nar Hhallas is, but I did a wikipedia search and it looks like he is from the Wing Commander series.
