Hopefully we will see a greatest hits collection start happening within the next year for the PS3 my guess is it will be $30 also.

The whole Greatest Hits for PS2 was when a title sold 1 million copies and had been out for some specific amount of time wasn't it? I'm wondering what they'll lower the number to for PS3... because it might be a REALLY long time before any titles hit that number

Depends, if it's 1m overall, then there are already several eligable titles.
If it's 1m in the US alone, then yeah, loooonnnng wait.

The only game to "sell" 1M copies in the US has been Motorstorm, but that's only due to it being a pack in... Resistance came close, but didn't quite make it. In total, there's only 4 games that have sold over 1M worldwide since the PS3's launch:
Name Publisher Japan America Others Total
Resistance: Fall of Man Sony 0.14 0.97 0.87 1.98
Motorstorm Sony 0.08 1.06 0.79 1.93
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Activision 0.00 0.58 0.57 1.15
Assassins Creed Ubisoft 0.00 0.49 0.64 1.13
I guess if Milli Vanilli could have a greatest hits released, so can the PS3 (someday) .

Without Imsoniac (Ratchet and Clank, Resistance), how much more pitiful would the PS3 library be right now?

They do have a good track record from the PS2 though. Also, I bet Activision and Ubisoft are really happy with those numbers for AC and COD4, with exclusives like Lair, R&C, and Uncharted failing at retail.
I would guess the Greatest Hits pricing will be $30 for most games, and $40 for some higher profile games.

Sales don't really matter, Sony can slap a label on any game on the system and re-market it to make them more attractive.

I'm pretty sure PS2 Greatest Hits were 400,000 sales over a 9 month period, not a million. I would expect $30 for a PS3 GH title, but I wouldn't put it past Sony to put them out at $40...

I would be more surprised if they were $30 then if they were $40. 33% off the original price sounds more likely than 50% off. Weren't PS2 GH games $25 or $30 when they were first released?

This topic is keeping you up nights isn't it? From CAG:

What games would be considered Greatest Hits? They really ought to drop the prices of their games or have BOGO sales like blu-rays. I don't think there any titles I'd buy for $30 (that I don't have).
