Any reason to hook up Xbox 360 via VGA instead of component?
I'm getting a new tv probably w/in the month. I have the HD-DVD player, but I'm not really concerned about upconverting standard dvds, since I just bought a Toshiba HD-A3 and will likely use that. So, any advantage?
If there is one, and I should go the VGA route, are the 3rd party cables serviceable so I don't have to spend the $50+ for the Microsoft brand ones? |
Far as I know, up conversion is the only advantage. Plus you're less likely to have a vga port on your receiver. HDMI and Component are pretty much standard now. But if you're hooking straight to the tv then that won't matter.

Running VGA here, but only because I have it hooked up to my LCD computer monitor.

VGA and HDMI are the only ways to get 1080p content on DVD or HD-DVD via the 360.
