I now have a PS3, recommend me some games!

Thanks to the generousness (is that a word? it is today) of retihsuhnt I now am the proud owner of a PS3. It's been in the house for a few weeks now and the only thing I have done on it is watch BD movies. (so shiny)

Anywho, what are the most have games now that I have this system? Either retail or from the playstation store (that's just like xbla right)

also in regards to the accessory dept, BD remote, must have? It sucks that I can't use my harmony, I'm wondering if its worth it to add another remote. I need to get a 2nd controller, should I get the one available now or wait for the dualshock 3?
thanks much as always

Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted are must buys or at least must plays. PSN games you should get are Super Stardust HD and Everyday Shooter for sure. UT3 is out next week with support for keyboard and mouse and mods, I will be getting that for sure. The BD remote is very handy to have although the controller will do everything the remote does. As for a second controller I would wait for the dual shock 3 to come out unless you absolutely need an extra controller right now. You also have the option of importing a DS3 but be prepared to pay a $20 premium before shipping.

  • Remote? - entirely optional. If you get along fine with the controller, don't waste your money.
  • Extra controller? - Wait for the Dual Shock 3
  • Games? - Do you have a 360? If so, then I'd stick to the exclusives.
    1. Ratchet & Clank
    2. Heavenly Sword
    3. Motorstorm

are my three faves. I haven't played Resistence or Uncharted yet.

I only have three arcade/PSN titles, FlOw, Everyday Shooter and Lemmings. All are fun, but I'd wait for another sale. They seem to do that pretty frequently, unlike XBLA.

For the record, it's "generosity." And I love the BD remote. Very handy, and I never have to bother pointing it at the TV, nice touch...

I've had a PS3 since the launch & pretty much have bought no games until fairly recently b/c I just felt the games pretty much all sucked so far.

However, there have been some phenomenal games released lately for the PS3.

These are the definite must buys to really show what the system can do, & are highly entertaining games. . .

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Desctruction - The game is simply stunning, phenomenallly fun game-play, & a wonderful story & humor. It has it all, really shows off the system nicely.

Uncharted Drake's Fortune - This is my current addiction, don't listen to any possible negative reviews of this game, IMO it's the game you should buy first. It plays like your playing an Indiana Jones film, it's just sooooo much fun. It doesn't re-invent the wheel, but it executes everything perfectly, the characters are fun, the game play is fantastic.

Heavenly Sword - Yes, it is very very short, I'd pick up the above 2 games first, but if you want to show off the graphics capability of the sysytem, the game is the way too go. And the story scenes were done by Weta, feature Andy Serkas (sp?) & are stunning.

Assassins Creed
Call of Duty 4 - Both must own games IMO, but I haven't played too much of either yet.

Call of duty 4 and Resistence Fall of Men have gotten the most play for me.

R&C is an own if you're a big fan of the series. Otherwise, it's just more of the same and worth a rental at most imho.

Heavenly Sword, Assassins Creed and Uncharted are rentals.

CoD4 if you can use the controller for FPS games (I can't use the PS3 pad for them), the multiplayer is fantastic.

Right now, IMHO, Gamefly is your best friend. Oh and Oblivion is fantastic if you're into thats what you're into.

Everyday Shooter is a nice game, and Symphony of the Night (Castlevania) is a must own.

It's hard to just recommend games. Get what you're interested in. Ratchet & Clank may be great but I just didn't like it.

Ratchet & Clank was fantastic. One of my favorite games of this year. I've never played the series before.

The great thing is demos for all these games are up on marketplace.

I've bought games I didn't intend to because I loved the demo (Ratchet) and avoided buying others I was expecting to. I just wish there were more demos.

thanks guys. I picked up resistence so I'll give that a go this weekend. I'll probably rent Heavenly Sword & I'll play R&C demo first. I really never played the series so I might not like it.

I seem to remember you being a Mega Man fan?

If so, then I've been saying Ratchet & Clank is what Mega Man should have been in 3D.

That's a pretty solid analogy.

Right down to the variance in sequels.
