Question re: XBox (original) sound hookup

I picked up a cheap Pioneer 5.1 system from Woot to hook to a DVD player and the kids' XBox (and possibly Wii).

I have an XBox Hi-Def pack that I had used for a short time with my projector, so that affords the optical connection between the two.

Problem is that the TV the XBox is currently hooked to is about 5 years old and doesn't have component video inputs. Is there any way to connect an XBox to a TV with only composite video inputs, and still take advantage of the 5.1 sound??? A third party connector maybe, or is it possible to make the Hi-Def pack work for this??

For what its worth, the 5.1 system has no video inputs/outputs.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

TAPN

The Xbox "Advance" video dongle has s video, composite and and optical output. I might have an extra one stashed away.

Leechboy-

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check the local Gamestop to see if I can find a used Advanced dongle today. Kids want to see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks again,

If you can't find one I can let you have mine for a few dollars.
