Is December A Dead Zone For Video Games?

I remember past Decembers seeing the release of major games like Final Fantasy X, but this year, I'm not aware of any major titles coming out. Are there any left or is 2007 essentially over as far as new games go?

Well, you don't get many December "big" releases any more, since most companies want to put the game out before Thanksgiving to take advantage of that big shopping weekend.

Well, UT3 is coming out - granted only for PS3 for a bit. Nights for Wii is coming out also.

Those are the two biggest I can think of. After the Oct/Nov releases we had this year, anything else is going to seem meager for a very long time. We had at least 5 GOTY candidates come out in that time.

I forgot UT3. That's pretty big, I guess. Is Haze coming out as well or did it get delayed?

It is for me. I broke the bank on games in November, but I will get Nights at some point. Maybe when the original comes to PS2.

Like posted before im sure companies try to get their games released for the holiday rush and having enough product out to meet demand.

Yup, I'm sure November is the big month of releases. I'm sure they'll be plenty of copies of Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin's Creed under Christmas trees this year.

December a dry month? Are you serious? Though nothing huge may be launching in December there are plenty of games that have been released within the last few weeks that are going skyrocket in sales as we get closer to the 25th. Gamers usually don't launch to close to Christmas because they want to capitalize on black friday sales and have the chances to gain positive word of mouth and momentum so all the little johnnies and suzies out there can bug mommy and daddy to death to buy them SM:G for Christmas.
