Halo 3, buy or rent?

Sorry to start a new thread on Halo 3 but the old one appears to be locked.

I'm contemplating getting this however not sure I will really like or play it as I'm not big into FPS multiplayer on the XB360 (read: my controller skills stink). So, how is the single player portion of the game? Worth a buy or rent only? Still buy it on the off chance my controller skills improve some day?

I've only played Halo 2 occasionally at friend's/relative's houses so my background with the Halo franchise is limited.

Thanks

Depends. If you aren't much into the multiplayer aspect, which is where the game has amazing longevity, I'd say rent.

The single player story was decent, but nothing that I would pay full price for and just get that. Where I put my $60 is the legs the game has to stand on in the multiplayer. I feel the game I paid for is the multiplayer/online experience with a bonus single player option. I played the single player campaign to beat it, but I keep playing the multiplayer.
Since that doesn't sound like where you want to spend the time, I'd say renting will be your best option. It will let you play through the game, and then you can return it and not feel like you have wasted your money.

Definitely a rent for me. I never liked Halo for multi-player but always enjoyed the single player campaigns. I finished this one in two days. You'll like it if you enjoyed the first two.

I think if you are questioning whether to buy or rent you should always rent.. Why risk $60 when you can find out by spending $5?

looks open to me.

I personally would rent/skip it. But it's my preference.

Get it used for cheap. I had alot of fun playing co-op on the single player campaign. Multiplay is solid if abit uninspired.

I've got a lot of replay value out of it from chasing achievements, replaying on Legendary, etc. But if you're just a one-time-runthrough player it's probably only worth a rent.

Oops, sorry! Must have missed that when I did a search.

Thanks for feedback all!

Another vote for RENT! The single player experience for me has been very boring.

after you beat single player there isnt much else to do.

if you rarely play multiplayer than thats even more reason to rent

Multiplayer online is tons of fun. I used to suck @ FPS on consoles but I'm getting decent. I'm still alot better at FPS on the pc.

Rent to play the game and leave it at that if you are not a huge fan of the series. Online play has dwindled for me to just playing with a small group of friends that I know in real life as the games are becoming more and more flooded with ill-mannered, obscene childred with nothing better to do than belittle people for no reason at all. It is funny for bit, but gets really annoying after the first few games you encounter it.

Rent! IF that... I'd go for Call of Duty 4, but since you're asking about Halo 3... rent.
