Tomorrow the new character will be revealed. 1up.com says it's a "guest" character, while at Kotaku they have stated it is a "new" character. Either way there is cause for excitement.

I doubt it. Although Link made the Gamecube Version quite enjoyable, it really threw the balance off a bit in the PS2 and XBOX versions. Spawn did jack shit and was weak to use. Link sorta fit the game, because he's got a sword and such, but he was still a bit too cutesy for SC.

That has to be horseshit. It makes no sense with the timeline and such of the Soul Calibur games, which are based on "history". I'll believe it when I've got the controller in my hands and I'm playing as the Dark Lord of the Sith.

Apparently Vader is PS3 exclusive, while the 360 gets Yoda. Makes sense from a color perspective.

I think that's pretty awesome. They were right when they said the characters they have would make Link look like a nobody. That was totally unexpected. I really don't like that each character is exclusive to the console. I'm totally buying this game on PS3 for which I would never do normally.

I always kinda feel like these extra characters cheapen the game a little bit. Maybe if they were available only as bonus characters, and not just right at the start... That said, I'm wayyyy excited to play as Darth Vader!!!

EDIT: P.S. Does anyone think that this gives the PS3 version a serious edge? Am I correct in remembering that the Gamecube version of SCII sold the most because of Link?

Point taken. In the Spawn mythos though, there have been Spawns throughout the ages.

I guess this is real...and it sucks the PS3 will get Vader, as I don't have one yet. I can deal with Yoda on the 360 though...that's cool. I just want this damn game to come out already.

And I'm pretty sure that the GC version of SCII indeed sold the most, and actually played pretty well, too. I was least impressed with the PS2 version, and most impressed with the Xbox version last time around. SCIII was alright, but not as good as II.

Maybe they'll eventually release both characters available as downloadable content.

I really like the idea of those characters in it, especially since on the last game I was able to make a pretty good Luke Skywalker as a customizable character.

I don't like the idea of DV or Yoda in this game. Definitely makes it look cheap. At least if they had picked Princess Leia they could have given her some decent boobs.

Do you notice how both fit into both of the color schemes of the systems?

Yoda "green" on the 360 and Darth "Piano Black" Vader on the PS3 or maybe I am reading way too much into this.

Playing Vader sounds cool, but I'm betting that the first time you have to jump, you'll get thrown out of that mentality. Yoda's fighting style seems more appropriate for a Soul Caliber game.
