sorry getting nervous

I don't have a PS3 so I've just did some googling..
When using the controller for the first time or when using with a different PS3™ system, you must first pair the devices. If you turn on the system and connect the controller using a USB cable, the pairing will be completed automatically. Each time you turn on the system, a number must be assigned to the controller. The user can connect up to 7 controllers at one time. The controller number is shown by the number above the port indicators. For numbers 5-7 add the numbers of the lit indicators |

I'm trying to help you but I don't own a PS3 so it's kinda hard..
Questions: 1. Did you read the manual / directions to see how to pair it with your PS3? 2. Do you have the USB Guitar dongle plugged in? 3. Is there a "PS" button on the Guitar. |
They should really include instructions with the guitar.
