As for glitches, I almost gave up on it yesterday, since I was stuck at a mining place. I couldn't move away from it. It was brutal. I didn't think that I had a recent save, but it turned out that there was an automatic save when I landed on the planet, so I didn't lose too much time (probably 15 or 20 minutes). It was frustrating as hell though.

Hmmm. Ok maybe I'm just confused. I could have sworn it said Missing Survey Team though. Can you tell me what the Missing Survey team is, and do you know which mission I actually am describing?

movieking 12-10-07 01:35 PM

When you investigate the missing survey team,

Spoiler:
you find that they have all turned to husks. You have to kill them all.

Not sure, but I think that the one that you might be describing could be Hostage.

timewaster 12-10-07 06:58 PM

you need to get the "all clear" message. I think there were 4 bases that you had to clear.

fujishig 12-10-07 07:21 PM

I thought it was three... two colonies and one scientific base, or something like that. It tells you exactly what start system to go to, though, when you look in your journal and select an entry.

Quick question about finding elements... as they don't show up on your map until you've found them, are they in remote regions of the map? So far, I've found a lot in close enough proximity to other important places on the map, but I'm wondering if I need to scour the empty areas of planets with the Mako searching for stuff?

House 12-11-07 08:06 AM

I'm kind of upset, I can't get my Last Prothean Data Disk because I went to see the consort before going to the embassy, so i have the glitch.

Also I've gone through the entire galaxy and have done everything before going to Llos. I need about 5000 more xp to be a level 50. Is there anyway I can get those points before going to Llos? (I've already left Citadel)

Noonan 12-11-07 10:43 AM

I have a question about what I think is a side quest.
Spoiler:
So I started getting info about someone named Banes during conversations. I talked to the Captain about it and he told me to talk to the Admiral (Kohotu I think). He said that the Admiral should be at the Tower trying to talk to them about something. When I go to the tower he's not there. When I went to leave the Citadel, the elevator dialog going to the docking bay said that he died. Each time I talk to the Captain and select Kohotu as the topic, he says that he's at the Tower. Am I missing something?

Decker 12-11-07 10:52 AM

Well, I'm just starting this game now. Seems pretty good so far. One question though, and it may have been asked before : This is the future, mankind has mastered interstellar travel, so why are the elevators still so DAMN SLOW????

Noonan 12-11-07 11:06 AM

The elevators is one of the most annoying things about the game. Their way of avoiding "Now Loading" screens. I now will rarely go anywhere that involved an elevator unless I have to for a mission.

movieking 12-11-07 11:30 AM

You also get some missions while riding on elevators.

House 12-11-07 02:19 PM

I don't recall getting any missions while riding on elevators.

I got two or three missions from the elevator announcements at the Citadel station.

movieking 12-11-07 03:04 PM

Ditto. I definitely got a couple as well.

House 12-11-07 04:38 PM

These missions actually showed up in your mission? I don't think this every happened for me, not that I was paying attention for missions in the elevator. I did hear them talking about news in the elevator after I had completed missions. Like the News Interview for example.

House 12-12-07 04:55 AM

So I finished the game last night, I have a few questions though.

Spoiler:
What affect did letting the Rachni on Ferron have on the game? I thought something was going to happen at th end but nothing ever did. The only thing I can think of is when I had to fight a bunch of rachni on a couple of planets. Was that it? If so that's pretty sad, they built that seen up huge, like it was going to have HUGE implications on the outcome of the game.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I'm going to continue for my level 50, or start from new. If I start a new game and I decide to create a female, can I do a lesbian seen with Ashley or Liara?

How do I get the sex with with the Asari Consult?

LivingINClip 12-12-07 06:12 AM

Spoiler:

No effect, it's one of those things they dropped the ball on.

Do both. That's what I am doing. I have to say tho', the opening seems even MORE slow than the first time I played thru it. I recommend trying a female character, as a different class, so that the playing experience is different enough to keep you interested. My first one was a Vanguard and I used Ashley / Wrex and I don't think I died more than twice. Now I am playing as a female Adept, using Liara and Garrus, died maybe five times before I even got to my first big missions.

A question about the (first, if there's more than one) Noveria mission:

Spoiler:
Noveria is the corporate ice planet, right? That's the one I'm talking about.
Spoiler:
So I went to see the corrupt mayor and asked him if I could get a garage pass. He told me to go to hell, but his secretary told me about the executive up in the hotel who might give me one. I go see him, and he tells me how the corrupt cops are in his HQ.

If I go to his HQ, the cops try to chase me away, but I've got a high enough paragon score that I can say "Hey, you guys aren't supposed to be here either," and they basically agree that neither of us will rat on the other. But then they start shooting at me anyway and I have to kill them all.

I thought maybe I could find the police commander -- the one you meet when you first get off the ship -- to tell her about the corrupt cops and get her to come clear them out of the HQ for me. But she's not where I first met her any more and I can't find her anywhere else on the map.

So basically, my question is this -- is there any way to do the SI mission without killing the cops? I'll do it if I have to, but I'm trying to play the game as a law-and-order type, so I don't want to go around killing a bunch of cops (even if they are on the take).

House 12-14-07 10:51 AM

Kill them, Kill them all, and like it.

movieking 12-14-07 01:39 PM

Spoiler:
I thought that I did it without killing them, but I can't remember for sure. I know that we agreed to stay out of each other's way, but I can't remember having a gunfight with them. Perhaps I am recalling incorrectly though.

fujishig 12-14-07 01:40 PM

I was a little confused about that in Noveria too... couple that with the fact that you seemingly can't choose the "good" answer (on the upper right) when talking to that corporate head if you want to get the keycard.

The inventory management system is getting to me, though... I unload most of the stuff, but you can't go strictly by numbers, because some of the lower numbered weapons have better stats in every category than the higher numbered ones. Also, I'd love to be able to equip all of my guys when I'm on the ship without having to go to their individual lockers.

Deftones 12-14-07 05:13 PM

I'm not sure I like this game. I mean, story-wise it is fantastic. But, the action is few and far between. Also, when I do get into firefights, I take alot of damage and die alot. I just got into the Mako for the first time on Ferros, and I got my ass handed to me twice by the Geth. If shit is going to be this difficult and frustrating the entire time, I'm going to be pissed off.

fujishig 12-14-07 05:25 PM

The action definitely heats up when you get past the early stages of the game, though it does become pretty repetitive.

Are you dying when you're in the mako, or when you're outside of it? Also, you can always change the difficulty level under options (which changes how leveled up the enemies are in relation to your levels). Although a lot of reviewers didn't seem to use the cover system, it's almost a must when you're facing snipers, as they'll tag you pretty quickly.

Deftones 12-14-07 06:02 PM

Inside the Mako. The first part when you go out in Ferros. I get shot by the Geth from long distances with these plasma like blasts and I'm too far to hit them.

Ah, ok. While holding down the left trigger, click on the right thumbstick to zoom in. Click on it again to double zoom in. That should give you sufficient range (and the only thing that really allows the Mako to survive).

edited: sorry, it's the right thumbstick/analog stick, not the left one. The one you use to zoom with the more advanced sniper rifles.

timewaster 12-15-07 03:42 PM

keep at it.
i actually had trouble with the game in the beginning, but then it got easier and easier as i learned how to really play it... and i don't consider myself to be very good with action games.

Ditto. I had trouble at the beginning as well, especially with the geth, and the husks. After you build your weapons and skills up a bit, it becomes a lot easier.
