Yup. Either a ship or maybe its moon. There's a few of those you can land on that are hard to see on the screen.

I know they're not capped at IV since the first ones I bought were the VII models (HMW is the actual line, so HMWP VII for pistol and such), and the FAQ I looked at showed the X models as the only other ones.

Also, is there a bug with the "UNC: Privateers" quest? I went to the proper system, but the planet that I should be able to land on to do it doesn't have a "land" option for the 'A' button (or any other option for that matter :( ).

Thanks.

Ah yes, sorry, it's been a while since I picked up the game. They're level VII weapons and are better than the level VIII and IX weapons you can also buy at that point. And yes, the requirement is that you get the "rich" achievement with 1 M, no license required. Apparently, there is also a level X version, but I've never seen that.

Which one is the Privateers quest?

UNC: Privateers Mission:

Spoiler:

Enter the Strenuus system of the Horse Head Nebula. Search the area up and left from the planet Xawin until you have found and scanned the MSV Majesty. Scans will reveal a radiation trail leading to the planet Xawin; you are unable to land on the planet to continue this mission until you have scanned the ship. After you can land on Xawin, do so and drive towards the privateer base. Clear the privateers around and within the base. On the top floor, in the back room, you will find Wilheim's body, along with a datapad that can be brought back to Garoth in the Citadel Tower.

In order to find it on the galactic map:
Spoiler:

Sit and watch the planet for a second. Right near it you'll see what appears to be a flashing star. If you cursor over it, it'll say unknown and then you scan it.

This game is really fun. I'm only 10 hours in, but I find it relaxing, and more enjoyable than Oblivion (but I'm a sci-fi geek too). I'm a Paragon Infiltrator. I've been going with Ashley and Wrex for all the missions to try and get the Ally achievements there. It's pretty awesome. I do see a lot of KOTOR in this game, but the more I play it, the more I think it would be an awesome model for a Star Trek game.

Also, I love the galactic map music.

cartman 01-05-08 08:44 PM

Thanks for the help with the Privateers.

One other question, what's with the trinket the consort gives you? I don't think I did anything more with it after getting it my first playthrough, but I missed a LOT of stuff that go.

On the planet of Eletania, in the Hercules system of the Attican Beta cluster, there lies a mysterious Prothean artifact in the southwestern corner of the map. It's very difficult to get to with the Mako, as it lies nestled in a valley that's hard to climb to. If you reach it, it'll activate, and say that there's some kind of keyhole in it.

cartman 01-05-08 10:27 PM

Thanks. Also, to get the Spectre X weapons, you just need to be level 50.

PopcornTreeCt 01-05-08 10:51 PM

Without spoiling too much, when do the romance missions begin? I've done the mission where you save the blue doctor alien but haven't done any other planet missions yet.

cartman 01-05-08 11:08 PM

They aren't romance missions (unless I missed them), you just talk to the chick you want to romance on your ship and be nice to her in conversation. After a certain number of completed missions you can talk to your female of choice and "get it on", assuming you said the right things.

CKMorpheus 01-05-08 11:17 PM

I got it on with Liara, and pretty much ignored Ashley since she's a real bitch some times. Anyone know what would happen if you try and keep things going with both of them?

cartman 01-05-08 11:50 PM

At some point they confront you and you have to pick one.

movieking 01-06-08 07:31 AM

Yup, I maxed on my charm stills, and still couldn't get a threesome :( It's funny because you can actually suggest a threesome, but Ashley turns it down.

PopcornTreeCt 01-06-08 06:21 PM

Another question; If you're stuck on a mission that you don't want to play anymore is there a way to quit it and go back to the Normandy?

Save Ferris 01-06-08 06:33 PM

There is an achievement for accomplishing a romance. It depends who you invest the most time in conversation with, and it depends how you steer the conversation. If at any point you 'shut them down' in convo. they dont pursue you. You have to do all the work.

On an assignment, it's as simple as getting in your Mako and hitting the button to go back to the Normandy. I'm not sure what needs to be done for Missions but I'm sure it's the same.

The only part of this game that really annoys me is on the missions the lack of autosave. I tend to go through the whole maze only to get killed at the end of the mission, 20 minutes later.

Of course what really annoys me about it is how reckless some of the AI is (or smart I guess). I am an infiltrator so I only have pistol and sniper training, but I constantly get rushed and smacked down by enemies in melee.

I save this game almost every few minutes because I die a lot.

fumanstan 01-07-08 08:31 PM

Yeah, I forget to save sometimes too, but I've realized I die a lot in combat as well and try and save right before I know i'm going into a big fight.

I think i'm just not using the biotic powers as much as I should and pausing the game to decide what to do other then using Unity to revive my dead friends.

I died all the time till i started using my biotics. It really turns the tides.

Deftones 01-07-08 09:08 PM

Yeah, I forgot to save a gajillion times. I can't remember how many times I had to redo levels. Pisses me off. I think it should autosave any time you are about to go on to a mission.

Mopower 01-07-08 09:21 PM

I"m 9 hours in and have 72 saves.

Trigger 01-09-08 04:45 AM

I just finished it having visited every planet (some a few times over) in every system and I only had 24 saves... it took me 27h30m apparently to complete it.

I kinda felt like this game was generic. I have played both the KOTOR games and started getting through Jade Empire... this one didn't really blow my mind. I did really like the ending (not really my specific ending, but the basic general ending)... I know with KOTOR, I was so dreadfully bored with it until I got off the first world - then it sucked me in. This one seemed like so many corners were cut while they spent so much time on details I couldn't even be bothered to pay attention to (like the specific gravity of some gas giant I can't even visit). Everywhere I landed (except for the few key plot-planets) seemed like the same crappy planet in a different color scheme. It also didn't seem very done - lots of graphical glitches and mechanical glitches for me.

PopcornTreeCt 01-09-08 08:22 PM

I'm really enjoying this game. The only space-based "universe" I have liked was Star Wars but I found this one to be very, very good. I also like the different concepts in the game and feel like that future is based a lot more in reality than most sci-fi films I've seen.
