But they've already got your money when you bought GH3.

That's one of the dumbest statements I have seen on this forum...and that's saying something.

Do you have stock in Harmonix or MTV or something?

I actually don't mind the characters in GH3. My roomate bought Rock Band on PS3 and it looks terrible; i'd take the deformed GH3 guys over that.

The stages and characters in RB make GH3 look like amateur hour.

Nope. They're just my favorite developers, by a long shot. That, and I think that a lot of what Activision does is shady as hell (inflating download numbers, the whole no Les Paul for PS3 Rock Band thing, etc.)

I'm sure they include the freebies in their stats, who wouldn't? I'm sure MS and Sony include themes and gamerpics in their download stats. Plus there are LOT of damn people that own GHIII compared the the drop in the bucket sales of Rock Band. Their d/l numbers are going to be huge no matter the quantity/quality just based on the sheer number of gamers that own GHIII.

It seems like there must be a better way to implement an exchange program which doesn't require people to be without the game they purchased for a month.
I got it too. I am still a little irritated that Craptivision is handling their error like this (I have no game for a month because they screwed up the disc mastering), but oh well. SSBB will keep me occupied until then.

I had a few hours to kill on Sunday and improved enough to hit those two parts at full speed (a part in "Solo!" where the scale goes back up with trills on each note, and the part in "Start Soloing!" where you have to double strum 2 blue notes after a trill with an orange note). Now it's just a matter of consistency and putting it all together.

You can't say things like that! Common sense will hurt his argument and all his Activision hate! Sort of like how HD-DVD buying a studio to come to their side is smart business, but if Blu-Ray does it, they're greedy and sneaky. mod note: posts like this are inappropriate, especially in the VGT forum. -namja

The only thing I have a problem with is how they label their free downloads as "purchases". To me, purchase means some kind of currency changing hands.

I agree, but they all do it, and I'm sure Harmonix/Red Octane will do the same if they ever offer anything for free. It's an easy way to inflate the numbers and apparently is widely acceptable.

Wow. I don't really care what numbers these people report. They don't make any money off free DLC, and GH3 isn't going to fool anyone into thinking it has a lot more DLC sold than Rock Band.

Mastered easy and 5* every song and have moved on to medium. Medium is much more enjoyable and after lots of practice, my pinky finger feels more natural now. The main problem I have is pressing down the Red and Blue buttons at the same time (middle and pinky). Any tips on that? I am getting faster with my fingers but that one still messes me up 99% of the time.

Any other general tips would be great too. The last tier of medium is tough to follow those fast, close together notes.

Red-Blue chords - you can either just keep playing until it becomes second nature or you can learn to move your hand to the second position, where your index rests on the red button and you use your index/ring fingers to play the red-blue chord. I avoid using my pinky as much as possible.

Moving your hand to the second position though can create a whole new set of problems, but it's good preparation for when you eventually move to Hard.

a few general tips:
-Take advantage of the practice mode and slower settings to learn the notes
-Mess around with hyperspeed if there are too many notes in the screen at once - it might help
-If you get stuck anywhere on medium try hard - it could make medium a lot easier when you return to it

Thanks Rabbit. Looking forward to mastering medium eventually too.

PS. What is hyperspeed?

Hyperspeed is a "cheat" (sort of) that speeds the fretboard up on screen. The benefit is that it means the notes will appear further apart so it's easier to make them out when they would normally be clustered together.
