Avoid Mario Party 8

I host parties, but don't play... Raving Rabbits 2 and MP8 are instant hits.

Thanks for the relay on No More Heroes, Corvin. Got in on it for $28 and it'll be delivered on Monday. Too bad it wasn't offered Wednesday so I could get it today.

Repped

Ocelot 04-04-08 10:35 AM

Yeah, i saw that too, No More Heroes for $28, but still too much for me (not value-wise, but ending up not playing it till the game can be gotten for maybe $10)...

pinata242 04-04-08 10:39 AM

Cool.

That's why I didn't bite. I still haven't played RE4 or Metroid. Fortunately both still go for more than I paid, so I still gots time!

doh, you reminded me of the exact same games.... RE4 for Wii is still pending (i triple dipped this game, the Wii version is far the best). MP:C, darn, i gotta go back to it some day (i think my motion sickness is cured, or at least more tolerable, thanks to Gears of War). And Zelda TP, oyi...

I don't get motion sickness, but the bobbing in Gears did bother me for a while.

I sold my TP last month realizing I was never going back to it. :)

Agreed. Avoid MP8 like the plague. Terrible game.

PixyJunket 04-04-08 01:56 PM

I'll put my vote in that Mario Party 8 is a great game.

Chris_D 04-04-08 06:44 PM

I'd get the latest GC one instead, it's probably cheaper too. Or better, Warioware instead. I think with the latest MP, too much time is spent rolling dice and moving around the board, and not enough time is spent playing the mini games (which can be really short).

spainlinx0 04-05-08 07:37 PM

They cancelled my Newegg order because of insufficient inventory. That sucks.

fujishig 04-07-08 12:12 PM

This may have been covered already, either in this thread or the Smash Bros. one, but I've been intentionally avoiding Smash Bros talk until I actually open the game...

I went to TRU yesterday and noticed they had a sign saying something to the effect that people may try to return SSBB thinking that it's defective. They should refuse the return, and have them contact Nintendo, since there may be a problem with some Wiis reading the disc, and that they should send their Wii into nintendo for repair.

Anyone have this problem?

Considering how much talk there was about the issue I don't know a single person that ran into it. My Wii is probably from 5 months after launch and my friend's is a launch system and both played it fine. I also know 3 other Wii owners that have the game and none had issues. Maybe it really is dust related. I thought for sure Nintendo was covering for issues with the disc drives in early systems.

Got my machine in May '07 and SSBM started up just fine. I had to dl the update, but after a few minutes the bashing began!

And to this day my record against my 10 year-old is 1-34-0. :(

steebo777 04-07-08 02:20 PM

I have a day 1 release Wii and it is fine. I think a few people from the Smash thread said they needed to send their Wiis in for the cleaning.

Baron Of Hell 04-07-08 02:23 PM

I don't recall which podast I heard it on GWJ maybe but they noted nintendo was sending back new Wiis and just cleaning them.

fujishig 04-07-08 03:16 PM

So was there a design change involved, or will there just need to be periodic cleaning of machines?

How could they possibly know this?

Yeah, I have similar luck against my button mashing son.

I don't remember specifically either but it was derived from a PR comment regarding the SSB issues, and that users should not attempt to clean there own systems (optical lens?) and they should send them to Nintendo support for cleaning. Something like that...

This weekend we definitely need to do some online play and see how they fair against each other. ;)

PixyJunket 04-09-08 03:36 PM

It looks like Nintendo is releasing a Wii-colored (but not branded) GameCube controller in Japan with a freaking 10' cable. Smash Bros. must be huge, I wonder if I'm really missing out on it. Personally, I'd bite on a Wavebird Deluxe or Classic Controller Deluxe.

Not to start a debate or anything, but I really don't think so. Once I finished the story mode, I was really bored. It's the same shit I've done twice over already with online. It just doesn't interest me like I thought it would. I really regret my purchase on that one.

Chris_D 04-09-08 06:12 PM

Someone posted this quote on another forum from Nintendo Power magazine. At this point I'm presuming they didn't make it up ...

Wow... I hope not as I am definitely purchasing this for the Wii :(
