Yeah, he likes all the fighting games, but SF II was one of his favorites. Myself, not so much into fighting games.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Fortunately thanks to the thousands of matches I've put in with the 360 controller with both SFII:HF and SF2THD I'm very comfortable without the need for a stick.

Hope this game makes it to my local Costco.

Unfortunately, those anime cut-scenes are some of the worst pieces of animation I've ever seen. It would've been far preferable to have the story played out using the in-game engine.

ME's is pretty bad, but I think this is even worse - it's like really cheap shoe-string budget anime.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

My roommate bought this game. I'm glad he did, because I realize after playing for about an hour and a half with him that I just don't like fighting games anymore.

It plays like Street Fighter 2, only chunkier. I'm just not into those games these days.

At least I didn't have to spend money to find out.

On the technical side, the game looks really nice (except for the above mentioned 'anime' scenes).

Yeah, it really is just SF2 with a fresh new coat of paint, albeit, a very nice and shiny new coat of paint, but it certainly makes no attempt at inventing the wheel.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I love it. It's more like SF 3 noobed up a bit though. Enjoying it much more than SF2HD Remix. Multiplayer is a mixed bag, I like the pictures and titles but why did they get rid of tournaments and rooms with multiple players. It's either play the same person over and over or go through the menus to find a new person every time, or am I missing something?

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Overall SF4 is definitely better than I expected it to be. The fighting itself is a perfect pace, and all the movements and special moves feel as they should in a SF game. I haven't played as all the new characters yet but Crimson Viper is a bad ass new addition, and the fat guy is not. The art style is gorgeous and definitely different than any other game I have seen, and the sound design is very well done too (love the sound when someone gets killed with an Ultra combo).

The anime cut scenes are atrocious and have awful stories and the main menu R&B song is comical in how wrong it is for the game. Seth is very frustrating as a last boss, but once you learn what he does after you beat him in one round (just don't get too close to him after that), it isn't as frustrating as it initially was. Anyone think of Dr. Manhattan when you look at Seth?

Overall, this game will keep me happy for hours and hours of entertainment

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I perfected Seth on the default difficulty with Ryu the first time through. Then I unlocked Sakura, bumped difficulty down to easy in order to help unlock every one quickly and got destroyed 19 times in a row versus Seth. I even tried going back to Ryu with no luck WTF. Tried Guile, tried Ken, tried Bison.

I played for a while last night. I still do not like fighting games, but if I did, this would be one of the better ones. The final boss, Seth, is possibly the worst boss in game history though...

Anybody of you has the FightStick (SE) and can give his opinion? I have it preordered from Amazon.de and the order is still up for the 1st of March.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Picked up my PS3 pre-order today. Finally my Soul Calibur IV CE and Hori Fighting Stick 3 have a new sibling!

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

The PS3 CE seems to be the harder one to get... it was sold out on Amazon long before the 360 version. Not sure if it's because of the PS3 d-pad superiority (if you're not picking up a stick or pad), the fact that the extra movie is on Blu, or the Ryu figure (seriously, why not just make it Ryu and Ken figures?) I picked mine up at Fry's this afternoon.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I think there's just less PS3 versions out there. I've been following a few threads on CAG and the PS3 version seems to be the one that has sold out first at a lot of stores, but even though the PS3 version has some advantages, I have a hard time believing it's enough to offset the larger 360 user base.

On most forums I've been reading, most dual format guys are going PS3 just because the CE is more appealing than the 360 one so sales could possibly be on equal footing on this one. Either way I still need to find one.

I didn't realize that the case on my copy was totally destroyed until I had the shrink wrap half off. The loose pieces of the case managed to scratch the disc up making it unplayable. Back to Best Buy tomorrow morning.

This. I pre-ordered mine from Gamestop and guess it was a good choice for once. You may want to check Blockbuster locations with a Gamerush. They would either have received them or will be receiving them today.

I'm really digging this game, but I still can't do Super/Ultras to save my life (literally). Can occasionally fire them off, though.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Love the game, but dear lord Seth is cheap as hell. At least when Gill beat your ass in SFIII he used skill, this guy just seems to kill me with cheap counter moves all day long. Grr.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I uncloked all the charcters except Seth (don't care) and Gouken (I was too tired to go through the game again to unlock him). I don't know about anyone else, but I think Crimson Viper kicks some serious ass! She is a blast to use.

Try mapping the 3 buttons to the secondary shoulder button (like L2 or R2 on the PS3), then it is easy.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I can do Ken's Super until the cows come home but haven't even looked up the Ultra yet. I'm still playing this completely SFII style as I never played SFIII. I need to go through and figure out the differences, Focus moves, etc, etc.

Try mapping the 3 buttons to the secondary shoulder button (like L2 or R2 on the PS3), then it is easy.

They're mapped that way by default on the 360 controller (Left buffer = LP,MP,HP, Left Trigger = LK,MK,HK) I just can't get the motions down pat for some characters.

Seth battles seem so random, sometimes he's the cheapest motherfucker around, other times he's fairly simple (I mean that in addition to the first round, which is simple by default). All I know is that I hate him and Rufus, who is too well animated, it makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
