Toys R Us - BUY 2 GET 1 Free - Week of Oct 14th

The title says it all.

Orange Box, Bioshock and Stranglehold for me.

Lastblade 10-10-07 03:40 PM

Possibly Orange Box and 2 other games.

pinata242 10-10-07 03:45 PM

CAG is confirming this as it appears people are getting ahold of next week's ad. All over the front page.

Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Folklore as it stands right now.

fujishig 10-10-07 04:36 PM

Anyone actually go to a TRU to see what's in stock? I remember during last month's sale, very few seemed to have Bioshock, none had Eternal Sonata. Ninja Gaiden Sigma also seems like a no-show.

I think I'll return the three that I got during that sale (Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Blue Dragon) and pick up:

Blue Dragon
NBA 2k8 (360)
some other 59.99 game

and then for the cheaper stuff:
Rogue Galaxy (still 39.99, right? no pricedrop yet?)
FF tactics PSP (hopefully they get some)
some PSP or DS game

edit: woah, they ported the Bleach DS and Wii games over? Maybe I'll pick up one of those (if TRU gets any)

aktick 10-10-07 04:40 PM

Neither of the TRUs near me have had Eternal Sonata in yet, I called today and 1 had the Orange Box in, the other didn't.

madara 10-10-07 04:50 PM

Hmm Zack and Wiki will not make it time for this huh? :(

Wonder how much of hardcore idiot I would be if I bought Folklore now but didnt likely own the system to play for few years? lol Would like to support games like that for PS3, would surely make me get the system sooner if I knew more stylish and artist attempts like this were being made rather then just usual FPS and GOW clones.

PopcornTreeCt 10-10-07 04:51 PM

The TRUs near me have a terrible selection. And I already bought the titles I would've bought anyway.

Fok 10-10-07 05:04 PM

I guess this is only for the states?

Decker 10-10-07 05:10 PM

Do we know definitively about their return policy for the non-free games? A few years back, I did this sale two years in a row with one of the games mearly a placeholder for that year's version of Ratchet & Clank (yeah, I really did pay full price for Grabbed By The Ghoulies -- with full intentions of bringing it right back). If that is the case this time, I'm totally on board (another Ratchet game for me! :D ). If not, I'll pass for now.

Returning them for another title is highly YMMV.

Giantrobo 10-10-07 06:13 PM

Wow, I may actually have money so I can indulge this time around.

Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and other games rated M are all behind the counter. They don't put rated M games on the shelf with the other games. Just ask at the counter, and they'll probably have some.

Eh, it shouldn't be. If their policy is that unopened titles can be returned for store credit if accompanied by receipt and within 30/60 days, that policy would be fine. At least it was in the past...

I'll let you know tomorrow...I've got a game I bought during the short lived B2G1 sale last month that I didn't open and am going to try swapping it for the Orange Box. If that works, I'll probably get 3 more games next week to swap for games in November.

However, they were getting burned by people returning the 2 games and keeping the free one.

So we have varying accounts of what happens:

1. Exchanges go through no problem
2. Exchanges go through only for the non free game
3. They only give you one third of the total price of the 2 games to purchase something else
4. They make you return all three games and give you your money back

So again, YMMV.

About M rated games: The Toys R Us near me is a mess, so I always go look behind the counter first. I have never seen Ninja Gaiden Sigma there (and I've asked), and Bioshock was most likely out because of the sale going on.

Me at the last TRU sale:

"Do you have Bioshock?" No
"Do you have Ninja Gaiden Sigma?" No
"Do you have Stranglehold?" No
"Do you have Eternal Sonata?" No
"Do you have Blue Dragon?" No
"..."

Thanks. Please post your results here. :)

Halo 3
Bioshock
?????

If I decide to drop the cash.

Michael Corvin 10-10-07 11:55 PM

Gift receipts work. They don't show the price.

Just a few weeks back I returned a DS game from a B2G1 sale a few months ago. It was the freebie. I got full credit and put it towards Metroid Prime 3.

Gift receipts should pull up the full transaction, which will allow them to see that there was a deal going on at the time. Again, if you get a CSR who doesn't know or doesn't care, you'll be fine, but YMMV. And I have no idea what happens if you give the free game as a gift and they try to return it... I'm sure they make exceptions.

Michael Corvin 10-11-07 06:14 AM

I just told them I got it as a gift. So why would they to penalize the person getting a gift?

At least with a gift receipt it doesn't look like you are trying to pull one over on them.
