See, I could never get the hang of the mouse/keyboard combo simply because of the keyboard element. I'm not good at typing without looking at the keyboard, or even using a controller that has buttons placed in a strange non-symmetrical layout (Gamecube for instance). The mouse side of it was perfection, but using a typing device as a game control seems so clunky and unnatural to me.

I don't have 32 friends.. I'm sure most people will be playing random matches

Generally though, most FPS and even games like World of Warcraft use the same WASD keyboard layout for movement, which means your fingers are always in the same place and hitting the same keys, regardless of the game. I don't think it would too different from remembering where the A,B,X, and Y buttons are on a gamepad.

Although I have to admit every now and then i have to look to remember where which button my finger is on for the 360 pad.

They may use the same WASD layout, but I never had the patience to get used to it. Same as the other poster, I love the mouse, but hate the keyboard. Analog stick is my preference there.

I've never been an FPS guy. I used to play Unreal Tournament for the PC back in the day and that was pretty fun but I never really got into it. The controls were good for that but I never moved on from Unreal Tournament because it seems with a lot of games you need to have a top notch computer and I'm not the type to upgrade to play video games.

I also liked Halo and Halo 2 (haven't played 3 yet) and eventhough they were fun I didn't get into it as much as others did. Maybe it was the controls since I was never too good aiming with the analog stick.

Now I have a Wii and I'm currently in the middle of MP3 and I love it. Aiming is a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to Medal Of Honor too. So yeah, I guess the Wii controls have made me enjoy FPS games.

I use to be in the same boat. When I did play a FPS on the PC, I'd remap all the keys to the arrow keys and what not. I finally just gave up on that and decided I'd rough it out on the default WASD layout. It took a few hours, but I have to say that I now see the brilliance in this layout. Works perfect.

I use to remap the keys to the arrow keys as well.

On the PC, I use left click for walking forward, right click for walking backwards, left and right arrow for left and right, up arrow for jump and down arrow for shoot. Yeah, it's pretty strange but it works for me.

Yes, that is strange, but it does sound interesting.

Ditto. Used the arrow keys for years with Quake 2.
