XBOX version question
Hey guys,
Quick question here on the different flavors of XBOX 360s out there. I just want to confirm what you get with each setup so I can make the right decision. Premium edition - system w/20gb HDD, wireless controller, wired headset, & HDMI = $349 HALO edition - same as above but in HALO colors = $399 Elite - same as above but with a 120gb HDD = $449 Any reason to spend the extra $100 on the elite other than a bigger drive?? I like the HALO edition but it doesn't seem to make sense to spend an extra $50 just for the cool color scheme. Thanks in advance. Greg |
Halo Edition also comes with the Play n charge kit ($40 value) so you're paying just $10 for Halo-themed XBOX, headset, and controller.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Elite the only with the HDMI? |
They all have HDMI now. Just get the Premium/Pro, the others are nonsense configurations.
|
Nope Halo Edition has HDMI as well as the newer Premier (ie not bundled with Table Tennis).
Also according to what I have read the HALO editions also have the new heatsinks etc for the overheating issues. Thanks Greg |
Core, Premium, Elite: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/c...htm?WT.svl=nav
Halo: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...le/default.htm Halo = same as premium + charge kit + Halo theme How is an extra 100 gig a nonsense configuration? I'm already under 100 gigs free. |
Another slight difference the Elite offers: it allows you to use HDMI video and optical DD5.1 simultaneously out of the box with a special audio break-out box the Pro/Halo versions can't allow with their Component cables.
I had to perform this "special modification myself" and it worked wonderfully: http://www.chadledford.com/?p=50 |
the hard drive on the elite alone makes it worth the extra money. with all the demos coming out and everything and extra dlc from games and such, you'll run out of space at some point in gaming.

I went thru and deleted all the crap that was on my box when I got it and as long as I dump demos when I am done with them, games saves take nothing. Even the Arcade Live games are pretty small (unless you just want to own every Arcade Live game...but some are pretty crappy as my demos have shown me). |
I've had my system since launch day and have not filled the HDD yet. As mentioned above, I just delete demos once I've played through them. All my music and videos get streamed from my computer.
|
Isn't the play and charge kit included with the original systems? I have one from my original, but I don't remember ever buying one. This is just the USB cord that plugs into the controller, right?
|
They didn't come with the original factory systems. My Sam's Club bundle came with one though.

I have the elite, i like having the extra space and not worrying about deleting shit.
|
Well that's why I am thinking the premium or HALO edition would be best for me as I am just a casual gamer .. nothing more. I enjoy my games but I do not play often enough to even come close to filling the standard size drive.
Thanks for everyone's input!! Greg |
