What's with all the Telltale sunshine pumping? I might never touch one of their games again after being subjected to Transformers.

pinata242 08-12-08 01:49 PM

Telltale Games (Sam & Max) ≠ Traveller's Tales (Transformers). ;)

Though Traveller's Tales is responsible for the awesome Lego series of games, so don't just write them off based on one game.

The player picks one of six available golfers and competes on a number of golf courses around the world, including Japan (Fujiyama Oriental Golf Club), America (Grand Canyon Golf Course), Australia (Blue Lagoon Golf Course) and Germany (Baden Golf Course). The game features two modes of play. The first is Stroke Play, in which the player attempts to get the best score by playing all 18 holes. The second is Match Play, in which two players compete to see who can win more of the 18 holes. Grab a friend and get ready to hit the fairway.
Finally Mega Man. Still no Ys or Samurai Showdown II.

8/25 (no official N PR yet):

2 VC:

Ys Book I &amp; II is a top pick this week for RPG fans. When Ys Book I &amp; II was first released on the TurboGrafx-16 CD format, it did things that no other RPG from the time period had done to that point. The game featured full voiced dialog, gorgeous anime sequences, and an epic quest that basically spanned two separate games. Over the years this game has become one of the most beloved classics available on any game console and a must-have for any RPG fan that might have somehow missed it along the way. This costs 800 Wii points.
<p>Samurai Shodown II is one of my personal faves. Sure the first game in the series was excellent, but this sequel refines the game even further to make for a much better experience. Four new characters, new moves such as a dash attack along with other refinements. If you love games like Street Fighter II but haven’t yet taken a chance on a Neo Geo brawler then this is a great place to start. This costs 900 Wii points.
and 1 WW:

Helix is one of the most innovative music-rhythm games ever designed for the Wii console. Use the Wii Remote™ controller to do dozens of exciting moves, including punches, circles, back fists, hooks and more. Be mesmerized by the eye-popping background visuals, which pulse to the beat of the music. Enjoy incredible replay value with 26 songs to play and three difficulty levels. Try to unlock all of the songs. This game is great for getting exercise plus having fun. No buttons are required, so it’s easy for anyone to pick up but difficult for even the best players to master.

Wick 08-25-08 09:32 AM

Argh..still no Super Mario RPG.

Chris_D 08-25-08 11:04 AM

Ys I&2 is pretty awesome, although the SMS version of YS1 is better in some ways.

RichC2 08-25-08 12:59 PM

Wow, Ys is a game I didn't realize I played but now that I look at it, it's one of those games I played as a kid, remembered, and couldn't remember the title of.

Sweet.

Wick 08-25-08 05:12 PM

I played through Wanderers of Ys III, when I was younger, and it was phenomenal. I'd download Books I and II, but I don't have the time for another RPG because I have a huge backlog of them.

Iron Chef America for the Wii!

I just saw this on Alton Brown's homepage:

Now, finally, after years of anticipation, I can compete on Iron Chef America.

Well, not exactly. But I can finally go up against the likes of Mario Batali, Cat Cora and Masaharu Morimoto on my Wii console. That's right food fans, Iron Chef is coming to a Wii near you and if your slicin', dicin', stirin', measurin', whiskin', and general cooking skills are up to snuff, you may just walk away a champion. But even if you fail to convince the judges of your brilliance you'll have hours of culinary fun with me and the gang, not to mention a cadre of brand new iron chefs, each with their own specialties. Allez cuisine indeed.

Hits stores around October 25, more details as we have 'em, so check back.

Earthbound still hasn't been released... :D2:

slop101 09-01-08 11:57 AM

I knew someone would say Earthbound!

BTW, how many blocks does Mario RPG take up? I don't have much left, so I might have to delete a channel or two.

I have quite a list my friend. No complaints though. I'm happy it is here and with the Toys R US sale I can get more cards at $15 each.

Are point cards included in the current Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off sale?

I must be the only one that hasn't blown a load over the games release.

No they are not. I misread the ad. I was hoping it included accessories like they sometimes do. I'm hoping there is a sale on accessories at some point. I'm down to 700 points and I only buy these when they are $15 each.

pinata242 09-01-08 05:14 PM

Downloaded SMRPG, but I doubt I'll ever play it  I just want to encourage Nintendo to give us the games they know we want. Holidays and "milestones" just aren't good enough.

darkside 09-01-08 06:07 PM

I've played about 3 hours of it and it is just as good as I remembered. Now to see if I can beat the Final Fantasy optional boss. If I remember right that was the hardest thing to do in the game, but with Mario, Peach and Bowser I was able to do it on the SNES.

tonymontana313 09-02-08 12:40 AM

Nintendo really hit one out of the park with SMRPG. Hopefully the bitching stops for a couple of weeks now.

argh923 09-03-08 02:55 PM

Wow...I'm actually going to turn on the Wii for the first time in six months. Been waiting FOREVER for SMRPG!

slop101 09-03-08 03:48 PM

So how many block does Mario RPG take up?

pinata242 09-03-08 03:50 PM

It took up 1 less than it said it would when I downloaded it. I want to say they claimed 60 blocks, but my count only changed by 59.

Speaking of which, I am down to 51 blocks free and I haven't touched the Wii in months, but for this pat-on-the-back-for-you-Nintendo download.

RichC2 09-07-08 11:19 AM

Well, SMRPG is a bit more disappointing than I remember it being, I just can't get into it.

Have had fun revisiting Ys I and II but completely forgot you can't swing your sword. Were there any games released on the NES that were just super similar to Ys? Other than Crystalis, that is. Trying to remember a game that played and looked a lot like Ys but wasn't (as I don't think Ys was ever rel'd on the NES stateside).

Opposite reaction for me.

Playing SMRPG, I'm reminded why I loved pre-PS1 rpgs in the first place, and why I've liked them less and less ever since.
