Thanks, I appreciate the help from the posters who have helped!

Drats, that trial version's config said it did not pass that 8-bit palletizing textures test. I guess order a PSX.

I found a company online with good bizrate ratings, and I want to make sure I'm getting everything I need. It says it comes with:
Sony Playstation (PS) System Basic Package includes

* PS System
* 1 Original Sony Controller
* AC Adapter
* Audio Video Cable

I added a memory card for a few bucks and an additional controller for a few bucks. That's all I need (except for the game), correct?

Can't you put PS1 FF7 either in a PS2, or probably also a PS3? I mean it depends on what TV you're using, but FF7 will probably look better via component cables from your PS2 (which maybe you already own anyway?) than composite cables from your PS1. That was always my experience anyway.

I am not a big gamer, the last system I had was a Nintendo so I don't own either a PS2 or PS3 and likely wouldn't buy one anytime soon. But for $30 for a PS1, additional controller and memory card that's good enough for me.

No problem, enjoy!
