what difficulty do you play games on?

thanks to achievements on the XBOX360, i have found myself playing every game at the highest difficulty. what about you guys?

Joe Molotov 06-17-07 08:59 PM

Medium, because I generally suck at games but I still have my pride.

Josh H 06-17-07 09:15 PM

Usually medium. Rarely will replay on higher levels, one exception was Gears of War as me and my buddy ran through casual and hardcore in Coop.

PC FPS games I tend to play on easy as I suck at the keyboard mouse controls. I hardly play them anyway as I don't like gaming on a computer much, but one of my friends lent me a stack of games he recommended I check out so I've worked through a few of them.

darkside 06-17-07 09:43 PM

I have a stack of games to play and little time to play them. I start on easy and adjust it up as needed.

fumanstan 06-17-07 09:47 PM

Medium, or whatever the default is. I don't care much for harder difficulties, as I feel more frustration then fun.

McHawkson 06-17-07 10:27 PM

Depends on what game - FPS - Easy. :o RPG - Easy or Medium on console. Car Racing HARD

As for PC games - Hard > Extreme

K&AJones 06-17-07 11:35 PM

I'm like McHakson, depends on the game but mostly medium to easy and work up.

Sports: highest difficulty

the rest: default

mndtrp 06-18-07 12:48 AM

Default.

I don't play many games, though.

msdmoney 06-18-07 12:48 AM

I always use the default, which usually seems just about right. I have too many games to spend too much time on any one game, and easy is usually too easy.

Green Smurf 06-18-07 12:53 AM

Whatever the easiest is

nemein 06-18-07 05:11 AM

First time through any game I usually play it on the lowest setting to get a feel for it. After that, if I enjoyed it or there are unlockables or what not, I may go back and try the other settings.

Giantrobo 06-18-07 05:51 AM

I always start on "normal".

eedoon 06-18-07 06:22 AM

Usually medium. But when the game is good and tickles my curiousity I would play it on harder difficulty sometimes.

Michael Corvin 06-18-07 06:32 AM

Depends on the game. If I've read that playing through on the hardest setting will unlock all the Achievements below it, I give that a go. If not, I'll go for the default setting and get a feel for the game before moving up.

Halo and Halo 2 being the exception, I started and finished on Heroic.

dvdsteve2000 06-18-07 07:26 AM

Usually on default. If I am flying through a game, I'll bump it up.

JPRaup 06-18-07 07:27 AM

Default

Bandit03 06-18-07 08:10 AM

I start off on the default difficulty and if I really like the game, i'll start over on the hardest difficulty.

KurrptSenate 06-18-07 08:19 AM

i prefer most games on the hard/hardest difficulty. It's rare that I actually go back through a game on a harder difficulty, unless the game is really THAT good

Groucho 06-18-07 08:23 AM

Most games are designed around the default difficulty, so that's what I tend to go with.

I do like it when games let you change difficulty "on the fly", like Halo. That way you can adjust to your own needs without having to start over from the top.

shumway 06-18-07 11:54 AM

I usually play medium/normal as well.

IIG 06-18-07 01:25 PM

Default. That should have been a poll choice.

Rob V 06-18-07 01:40 PM

I chose 'Easy' simply because I don't have a lot of time to game and I want to make the most of my time.

Shagrath 06-18-07 01:48 PM

Whatever gives the most gamerpoints? :)

I'll usually go through on Normal on my first run-through, and then crank it up to hard/expert, whatever the second time through. That is, unless I'm tearing through Normal, then I'll just crank it up right away.

UncleGramps 06-18-07 02:16 PM

Normal/medium/default.
