Weird. Is it the disc drive or the system itself? And which console? I'm maybe 10 feet away from my console and it's fairly quiet with Doom. Actually it usually is unless I'm playing a game as its installing.

Campaign is pretty fun. I'm not crazy about the multiplayer though. It really feels like it was made by a completely different company. The character customization is straight out of Halo, even looks like Halo.

Liked what I played so far of the campaign - love the levels and their secrets.
I also like what little I played of Snap Maps - just a few solo map creations, and they were great, especially the ones that try to re-create old Doom levels. A lot of potential in this mode.
I haven't touched the multiplayer yet, and going by popular opinion, I may just skip it altogether. Doesn't matter, there's still a lot of good game even without any multiplayer.

Yeah, the singleplayer and snapmap features were made by id software, the multiplayer was made "in conjunction with (aka primarily driven by)" Certain Affinity who started out making Halo 2 maps, which were more or less remakes of Halo 1 levels.

Reading some of the comments here mainly about the SP and MP part of the game and IGN's review pretty much echo's that. It's good and frankly one of their longer ones....
http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/05/...-review-2?read .....7.1 of 10 (it's the MP that drags the score down)

How the hell do you switch from grenades to holograms? I tried all directions on the d-pad but can't seem to switch

Yeah I may have to pick this up - glad to see the multi-player wasn't a reflection of the single player game.

I've been having a lot of fun with the campaign. They did a really good job of mixing old school style Doom, with modern FPS features. I think I'm about halfway through. Been spending lots of times looking for secrets and upgrades. This game turned out way better than I was anticipating.

I'll wait till this goes on sale but glad to hear the SP part has surprised a few and done well. I think probably more thought it would be the other way around. I just wonder if they'll expand the SP experience or try and find a way to throw in co-op in some way; at least two player. Seems like the game would scream for it.

Seems like the DLC is just going to be multi-player only. There's a solid 13 levels in the game, and they're going to keep that number because of it's connotations (it was also released on Friday the 13th). But the SnapMap is sure to have endless content. There's already hundreds of solid single-player, co-op and multi-player maps (some better than others) and plenty more to come, I'm sure.

I'm loving this, it's one of the most satisfying FPS games I've played in quite some time (I don't do a ton of mp).
I would love a Fallout 3 style game in a World like this. Sort of like Oblivion, but more fun and modern.

Re: Doom (5/13/2016: Xb1, ps4, pc)
both?
i guess it depends on what you feel like playing. DOOM is all brawn and little to no brains, but just fun as hell. like that addicting sort of way that you can't wait to play again. but at the same time taking your time while doing so so you don't miss anything and just extend the gameplay as long as possible (at least that is what i like to do). pick up and play sorta thing.
F4, i assume, is more brains and requires some thought to maneuver and play.

There was a small patch when I turned on my system yesterday (Xbox One), roughly 65 megs.
Now the game (not the system) freezes with a good deal of regularity.

Re: Doom (5/13/2016: Xb1, ps4, pc)
I had to uninstall the game and reinstall when I turned mine on today to play. I couldn't even get the game to boot. It just kept going back to the xbox home page when I clicked on the game to play, giving me the 0x80270300 error..."not ready yet, Doom needs to finish installing, etc.". Nothing was in the que. Didn't have any freezing issues when I finally got to play an hour later though.
Second game in a row after an update this has happened to me. Dying Light did it to me as well. Microsoft needs to get this figured out.

So has anybody found the classic Doom levels? I love the transitions from modern Doom to Classic Doom with Modern Enemies
Spoilers:
Lots of goodies hidden in the game, pretty cool. Kotaku laments it not having real mods, but praised whats being done in Snap Map.
