Microsoft DVD remote for OG Xbox.

I bought a used Xbox DVD remote kit from Gamestop for my modded Xbox. I plugged it in to the controller port. Put new batteries in the remote and nothing happens. I booted to the MS dash and nothing happens. Isn't this thing plug and play? Tried different batteries, controller ports. Nothing. Do I have a dead on or is there something else I need to do?

Should be plug and play regardless of your Xbox being modded. You have it in port 4?

No port 2. I'll try port 4. Hope that is the problem.
