Rumors of a StarCraft MMORPG

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/05/ul...starcraft-mmo/

So what do you think? Discuss amongst yourselves. Do you think if it's true, it's smart to come out with another mmorpg to take away some of Blizzard's wow audience?

Well if Blizzard is going to loose people from WOW, at least it will be to one of their own games...

I got a kick out of CVG reporting it as fact. I wonder who their sources are and if they have their apology news post ready to go when they find out they're wrong.

I understand that there was an April Fools joke, but a few websites are reporting this latest rumor. One things for sure, Blizzard is going to announce something big later this month, and it's in Korea where StarCraft is huge.

The web page Computer and Video Games originally reported it, and other sites have pretty much based their reports off that. So really, I think they're the only site that's claiming they know the details.

Bleh. I have no need for a MMO Starcraft... Give us a proper sequel, Blizzard!

An MMO RTS would be kinda cool though... Though they'd probably just do an MMORPG in the StarCraft world. There was an MMO RTS game out for awhile that a friend of mine used to play. It was 3D, like Ground Control. It was actually pretty cool. I think Sega had developed it, but I don't know if they ever officially released it (it was in beta for a long time). I forget the name though.

If it's a fun MMO shooter/battle game like a mix of Planetside and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars set in the StarCraft world, I think it could be a ton of fun and not mess with the WoW playerbase.

My money is on a proper SC2 sequel though.

What happened to SC: Ghost, maybe that's what all the fuss is about.

Nope, it's not Ghost. Doubtful that will ever pop up.

I'd be very surprised if Blizzard would create a game that would be a direct competitor to WoW. I'm betting more on an RTS Starcraft sequel. Which would also kick major ass.

While I'd like a Starcraft sequel I'd rather have Diablo III using the Oblivion engine.

I have seen rumors floating around that D3 may be coming, rumored Blizzard is buying up the diablaiii urls, similar to what they did with Diablo II.
