Some new info:
http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-36...rn-Warfare/p1/ There's no doubt in our mind that Call of Duty 4 is by far the best-looking first-person shooter on the Xbox 360. To say that we were blown away by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would be a huge understatement. The game already looks amazing, despite the fact that it’s still months away from being released. Of course, we all know that looks aren’t everything, so we were happy to see that the game also features some of the most intense gameplay we’ve ever seen. From the single-player campaign to the multiplayer action, this is one game that has something for everyone. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=77666 Watching the action on Xbox 360, Infinity Ward has created the best-looking Xbox 360 FPS yet, and -until we see hard evidence that Halo 3 looks much better than the recent beta - it's going to turn heads. Where Call of Duty 4 differs from Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, however, is in the stylish, cinematic execution of each level. One minute you're stealthing around a Metal Gear-style boat in a storm, the next you're in the Middle-East, picking off enemies through the thick desert haze. There's realism but a sense of fun - take cover against a brick wall and it will rapidly crumble when enemy fire pins you down, forcing a move to the next hiding place. http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...opslot;title;1 "We've really squeezed a lot out of the hardware, and it looks 10 times better than Call of Duty 2. And I think Call of Duty 2 looks great." While there's no large-scale environmental destruction, there is material penetration by weapons, so it's possible to kill someone who is crouching beneath a window, or shoot up through the ceiling to get someone on the floor above. Perhaps the most intriguing new feature is the create-a-class ability, which lets you create your own custom soldier, armed with different weapons and equipment, depending on what you've unlocked. Even better are new special abilities that add an almost role-playing-like aspect to the game. There are potentially dozens of special abilities, but you can choose only one or two at any given time, so it becomes a matter of choice. For instance, there's last stand, which gives you a few seconds after you're killed to pull out and use the pistol to shoot the person who got you. Heavy endurance will let you sprint farther, and fast reload will let you reload faster. Or there's martyrdom, which automatically drops a live grenade if you die. Perhaps the nastiest one we heard of lets you eavesdrop on the other team's voice communications. |
Wow... Some strong statements there.. Hope they are all true!

I have faith in Infinity Ward :)
|
Sounds very cool. I'll be picking it up, for sure.

Multiplayer campaigns (a la Rainbow 6) would be awesome.

Can't wait.

New gameplay footage over at XBL. You'll need to watch it in the dark since all the footage is nightime fighting. The one cool part is half is with Night Vision on. Check out the lasers!

It's on August 2007 issue. It looks awesome - look like it will pull me out of the retirement to play it.

It look like actual game footage. I can tell they used almost same way as Call of Duty 2 aiming.
 I might try revive my clan into play COD4. |
Yeah it does looks great but not so great that it is unbelievable to think it is not real-time footage. Notice the HUD and the "Press X to reload" so yes it is actual gameplay footage.

If they said 32 slots on PC, then it can support up to 64 slots depending on server providers offers.

No sweat on my part, besides we're all going to be on this one no doubt about it. Over at XBL they made the comment," this has FPS Game of the Year written all over it". I just know they're going to have to come up with more awards for the likes of Bioshock, Halo3, Unreal3, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and probably Medal of Honor. I see all 9+ scores here. That looks beautiful...

Looks good. My only issue with the modern time is the games become just all about the spray of the machine gun. Some of the most fun I ever had playing the COD series was rifles only. This is the reason I could never get into BF2, too much spray and pray.
|
I'm intrigued by the new direction the series is taking. I really hope the multiplayer lives up to the promise of COD2 and 3... and I hope that they just enhance it, not drastically change it (ie. if there is no 'headquarters', I'm going to go fucking ape shit). Should be a lot of fun and I'm definitely going to buy it regardless.

OMG...that gameplay footage was awesome!!! It seems to have retained that intensity that COD & COD2 are known for.
