are you talking about walking into the gym and going up another room where the screens slants slightly, and it appears as if NOTHING is in that area?

Yeah, there's the room that you're in when you enter the gym, with just one guy standing there. Then you go up one room and it looks like a little forest (even though it's actually an indoor room and part of the gym). Search that room for the hidden trainers.

KurrptSenate 04-26-07 01:32 PM

I think I checked that room the least. I do remember walking all around the little maze, from top to bottom, left to right.

Do i have to click on the trainers, or do i just run into them, and they spring into action?

UncleGramps 04-26-07 01:36 PM

You have to walk up to them and hit A, and that'll start a battle.

KurrptSenate 04-26-07 01:37 PM

Awesome man, thanks

I've always heard that traded pokemon, though they level up faster, have worse stats...

Rick1962 04-27-07 05:54 PM

OK! I've decided to get a copy of the game, but I can only afford one... what's best, Diamond or Pearl, or does it matter?

fujishig 04-27-07 06:09 PM

Only difference is a subset of Pokemon is exclusive to each version... either way, to complete your pokedex you'll have to trade with someone with the other cart.

Which did you get?

I got Diamond, because that was all that Fry's had (not sure if it was because Pearl is more popular, but they had a ton of Diamond and no Pearl), but I'll probably get Pearl soon for my wife.

Rick1962 04-27-07 06:33 PM

I think I'm going to get a Diamond one... Hhhhmmmm.... I wish my wife would play Pokemon with me... Oh, well....

P.S. I'm being totally sincere!

darkside 04-27-07 08:53 PM

Damn, there is a ton to do in this game. I'm 20 hours in and only on my second badge.

LorenzoL 04-29-07 05:43 AM

Finally! I started playing Pokemon Diamond a week after I bought both games. I'm now 5 hours into the game and ready to get my first badge.

LorenzoL 04-29-07 07:32 AM

I know that in Diamond/Pearl, you can transfer your Pokemons from your Gameboy Advance games once you have completed your Pokedex however, does anyone know if there's any way to transfer Pokemons from the Red/Blue games on the original Gameboy to the Nintendo DS games? Is this even possible?

Sorraffy 04-29-07 10:01 PM

16 hours ..... 5 badges, at least my Torterra is level 50.

I probably should be using some of the others since the rest of my team are all under level 30 and thank goodness for Exp Share and the Daycare

FantasticVSDoom 04-30-07 12:30 PM

Just started playing myself... Only about an 1 1/2 hour into it. Does everyone keep 6 pokemon with them at all times? I have 5 and trying to level them all up, but not sure if that is the best strategy.

Edison 04-30-07 01:33 PM

I've been keeping 6 with me, but have found a couple times when I capture a wild Pokemon and it gets sent to storage I would rather be able to level it without going back to town and moving them around. I think I'm going to try 5 for a while and see how it works.

superdeluxe 04-30-07 02:09 PM

What is the play time of pokemon? 30 hours? 50 hours?

wildcatlh 04-30-07 02:12 PM

Play time is theoretically unlimited, since there's a lot to do even when you "beat the game". When I last played Pokemon Sapphire I think my playtime was something on the order of 98 hours, and that was after a couple of restarts.

I'm 10 hours in on Pokemon Diamond and just got my second badge.

I just got my 4th badge and I'm at 26 hours. However, as mentioned this game is almost unlimited. It can eat up hundreds of hours if you are interacting and trading and fighting with other people.

How does the union room work? Some say it is only for DS to DS and other say it is for use over the net but you need the other persons friend code.

Can anyone that has got this work explain it to me?

kaze0 05-01-07 07:32 AM

Wow, I'm hooked on this. I don't know why, most of the reviews say this doesnt really bring anything new to the table. I haven't even tried trading or playing online yet. 16 hours in, 5 badges.

My wife and I decided to get these games for our two oldest for their birthdays this Summer. We went to Wal*Mart to get the games with the bonus DS Lite case.

They rang up at $27.99 a piece (the one at 281 and 1604).

We're giving Diamond to our son (9 in June) and Pearl to our daughter (7 in August).

They'll have to use our DS Lites until we get them their own systems for Christmas.

Anyways, the game is $27.99 at our Wal*Mart.

fujishig 05-01-07 11:40 AM

YMMV at Walmart, though, since they often have local and regional sales and pricing, depending on what the competition is. I'm a little surprised that they'd lower the price this week, since the CC sale is over...

Bought the Nintendo Power guide, which is usually pretty good, but this time they seemed to intentionally leave out important information so they can sell a second pokedex guide. Urgh. They list all the pokemon, but they don't list the levels they get move and other important information. What's frustrating is that the three starters all have detailed entries at the beginning of the book.

Also forgot that you need badges to get traded pokemon over a certain level to obey you. So after doing the mix and match to get all the starters, none of them would obey me and I have to wait to get the second gym badge (grass) before they will (up to level 30, at least). The worst part is that I assumed that they didn't obey me because they just weren't used to me... a few hours after leveling them up by constantly switching them out, they still weren't listening, and I finally went to an FAQ to find out why.
