Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching
Honestly, I get more than enough thinking throughout the week from work, books, relationships, and even most of the movies/TV I watch - videogames are the one place I don't really want to think. So give me that win button and let me drool at the pretty pictures.

Man these boss battles can be tough. I find myself putting the battle speed on slow for most of them. You have to be quick on the draw with paradigms and pay attention to all your party members and the enemies stagger meter, but is still fun. I have gone through quite a few phoenix downs when I only have two party members (Hope really seems to die easily).
I have not started upgrading weapons, just started chapter 7. Will start that up soon.

you need to start upgrading weapons and accessories. the boss on the airship is fucking impossible. he's got this attack to where if he starts it, you are dead, guaranteed.

I agree. I'm in chap 6 and I have all equipped weapons at level 5+ and Tungsten Bangles at level 2-3. I don't know how I would have made it through the chap 5 boss with every still at level 1.

In a response to a question as to how much of the game is complete, Nomura responds “Things are not connected yet, every part is moving along separately. However, we have gotten airships working over the world map.”

As much as i like Destructoid and Jim Sterling, it's obvious they chose that review to gain hits on their site. There was an article awhile back written by Dale North Ten Things I loved about Final Fantasy xiii
and Ten things i didn't love about Final Fantasy Xiii
Maybe they should've hired Dale to write the review as it seems he's more knowledgeable on the game then Sterling?

I didn't find the chapter 9 airship boss difficult either. Just make sure you have built up your party's crystalwhatevers and you should be fine. Also, cast all those spells before the battle starts (don't remember what they're called, but you press L1 on the PS3 to bring up the menu) and you go in with a big advantage.

Yeah, that's him. I fought everything that stood in my way up to this point, and didn't power level at all. I didn't run from any enemies except the bigger ones that the game said "may be hard with just two people."
FYI, they weren't hard, just took forever to kill one.
His special attack took only half my HP away from all three party members. I just switched to Hero's Charge, and was up and running again.

I still beat him rather easily even without those. I had haste on my all party members, and shell/protect, but those came from Hero's Charge. I just used that, and Relentless Assault and he was toast after about 5 minutes.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching
I just take 1 of each item and add them to my weapon. Seems like the EXP multiplyer works off of qty and not quality, therefore saving higher point items until I have i higher multiplyer.

You can use them on the scripted ones too. Just cast them before you trigger the cinematic and they will be there when the fight starts. The only one that doesn't work is the spell that gives you the preemptive attack.

You mean Ravager?
I use the setting you do usually.
I rarely die, it's been pretty easy.
I found out that using status boosting or de-boosting techniques can really help. Slow will slow down the enemy stagger bar. Haste let's you attack more to fill it up faster. Don't wait for all three or four bars to fill. Hit Triangle (or whatever it is on Xbox) to start the attack after two attacks or so, it helps fill up the bar quick as well. I only let the bar fill when the enemy is staggered.
