Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I'll be interested to see how many classes there will be in Galactrix as well as how many "spells." I just hope they are very different from Puzzle Quest and not just a renamed/skinned spells/classes.

For the three there.... one does a HUGE amount of damage, the other regenerates your shield (like burning mana before life points) and the third destroys a grid on the board. I.e., all three are renamed spells

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

There's only so much you can do with a gem-switching puzzle. All of the "spells" are going to involve using up points on various meters in order to make something happen. The main difference appears to be the shape of the board (and, of course, the setting).

I understand that but if the spells are cones then there would be no reason to get the next game - i could just play PQ on the DS.

Although i kind of dig the shield mechanism combined with the gems that do anywhere from 5-10 damage. That is nicely different from the skulls in PQ.

I'm much more of a sci-fi fan than a fantasy person, so this is right up my alley.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

Full demo has been released: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/puz...alactrix-demo/

Demo for Puzzle Quest: Galactrix allows you to play the single player campaign and instant action experience. Players cannot save their heroes, progress past level 5, or travel past more than a few sar systems.
Downloading it now. This site also claims it will be released in February.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I got to the end of the demo (an unhackable Leapgate that you need to get through).

It was Puzzle Quest in Space. The map is broken up into systems instead of one giant work. I've done hacking, mining, and engineering. Same sort of mechanic as sieging, questing for runes, and forging. Nothing different, in my opinion.

But fun. I'll be getting it for sure.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I'll give the demo a spin, but I think I'll probably just go back and play more Puzzle Quest (never finished it) instead of buying a whole new game.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

The demo was pretty cool.

So, am i seeing this correctly in there aren't character classes? You just choose what character model you want to use?

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I think ships take over the role of classes. From what I gathered, you collect "plans" for ships that you can later build to customize your character. After all, that is your actual presence in the battles. So the plus side is that you should be able to change classes mid-game.

Beyond that you can still do the typical R/B/G/Y "mana" points distribution to customize your bonuses from matching gems.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

Being on vacation this week, I decided to play this game once again. I never really finished this game, having given up early in the game because I couldn't get past Dugog (the two headed ogre). On my second try, things are much easier especially with some of the equipment and spells that I got. At least I'm certain that I'll finish the main quest this time around...

In regards to the sequel, I'm still undecided whether to purchase Galactrix based on reviews of the game. I'll wait until it goes down in price.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

Can anyone tell me how far into the game I am? I have 6/8 accomplices, and I just retrieved Sartek's tail. Been doing all the side quests as I go as well...and presumably haven't started on the expansion pack, since I think that takes place after the main quest.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I think rebuilding Sartek is the last main plot point before the finale opens up. You'll probably have a few "main" quests to get through before you can face the big bad guy and you'll do plenty of battles and quests on the side to get up to level 50.

Really?

Do the last two side characters join me fairly quickly afterward, then?

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

Side characters aren't necessarily guaranteed. You have to do side-quests for some of them. And, iirc, there were more possible than you could have at any given time.

Damn...I just know there's an achievement for getting all of them. I've done all side quests to date, so...weird.

Re: Puzzle Quest - DS/PSP...PC Demo

I might be mis-remembering that.

Who do you have?

ETA: The achievement "Inspiring Leader" is for getting 5 companions.
