PS3 vs xbox 360 copyright question

can someone confirm this:

PS3 - Bluray you can not watch over component due to copyright protection (you can only watch through HDMI). and you have to buy a component adapter.

Xbox 360 - HD DVDs you can watch using component and it is not copyright protected.

I ask this because I have a projector and only have component cables running through the wall and ceiling.

As long as the HD DVD doesn't have the ICT flag set to "on", then you can use component video output to feed your projector. For now, it seems the HD DVDs won't be produced with the ICT flag to "on", so that's an option for your projector setup.

Thanks Patman:

So Bluray has the flags set to "on"

It's why studios like Fox only want Blu-ray to win the format war (Fox wants all their film titles copy-protected).

I finally was able to get my PJ to work with PS3/component and it looked awful, they apparently downgrade the video as a means of copy protection.

Don't they downgrade it to 480p from the PS3/component?

PS3- you can watch blu-ray over component but it will not be 1080p. I am not sure what it changes it to, might be 540p.

360- 1080i max over component.
